Description of CarTest

CarTest is a tool app that measures acceleration performance of cars, motorcycles. You can easily measure times such as 0-60 mph, 0-1/4 mile by CarTest. It is useful for not only measuring full throttle performance but also knowing the usual acceleration on public road for safe driving. Please use it with safety first. Please comply with the law when using it on public roads. (How to use) 1. Fix the iPhone (or iPad with GPS) with CarTest installed on the dashboard of your car so that it does not sway. If your iPhone doesn't fall while accelerating, you can just put it on the dashboard or center console. When using it on a motorcycle, install it on the handlebar or fuel tank. 2. Tap the Start button (or Start / Repeat button). If the car is stopping, “In Prep" is displayed, and if the car is moving or the device isn’t capturing GPS signal, "Waiting for Stop" is displayed. (If the device isn’t capturing GPS signal, "GPS" mark to the left of the CarTest logo shows in thin gray.) 3. When the message “Start at your timing / Ready" Is displayed, start at your own timing. You will be notified by sound at the same time as the display. When your car starts, measurement starts and "Measurement Started" is displayed. The screen becomes a green image during measurement. 4. If your car decelerate during measurement, the measurement will finish and "Finished" will be displayed. 5. If the Start / Repeat button was tapped, when the speed drops near a stop, "Waiting for Stop" is displayed to prepare for the next measurement. (Button function) Stop: The measurement will end immediately. Start: Makes the measurement only once. Start Repeat: Repeats the measurement. It is convenient for repeated measurement in urban areas where there are many signals. share: A window opens to share the displayed result. ▲newer: After displaying the past result with ▼older button, tap this button to return to the newer results. ▼older: Displays past results from the stored history. km/h / mph: Selects the unit of speed ↑ / ↓: Page scroll. These buttons are enable when there are other results behind while viewing history. (Measurement range) km/h: From 0-20 km/h to unlimited every 20 km/h. 0-400 m. 0-1 km. mph: From 0-10 mph to unlimited every 10 mph. 0-1/4 mile. 0-1 km. (Large speed display on the screen) You can turn it on and off by tapping the Stop button twice in the stopping state (when neither the Start button nor the Start / Repeat button is tapped). (Sensitivity setting of start sensing) In the stopping state, tap buttons “Stop → ▲newer → ▼older → ▲newer → ▲newer" to open the setting window at the top of the screen. You can select 5 levels of sensitivity. Adjust if there are many false start sensing or if the response is slow. Probably no adjustment is necessary. (Note) 1000 cases of measurement history are stored even if you quit CarTest. When you uninstall and reinstall CarTest, the stored measurement history will be deleted. Dark mode compatible. No advertisement in the app. CarTest does not work on iPads without GPS. If the GPS signal is weak, the operation may become unstable. Reviews of CarTest

Like it , but not user friendly

It is difficult to operate the car and get the App to say « Start « at the same time. I’m still optimistic that it will work.

Response from developer

I have changed the ready state message. Thank you for your advice. --- After the message “Start at your timing / Ready" Is displayed at the center of the app, please start your car at your own timing.

Works very well!

Thanks! This is the best performance tester I’ve ever used.

Response from developer

Thank you very much!

And ... STILL Does NOT Work!

In response to the developers, second message… If that's how you get it to work without paying, it should make that more clear in the app but as I've already paid the $4.99 I can't test that part anymore.

What I can tell you is that the app STILL does not work and never switches from " waiting for stop" to "ready, go" on my United States version iPhone 14 pro running the latest iOS version. It shows my speed correctly when I'm moving and then when I stop it shows 0mph and then if you tap the start button, it goes from showing 0mph to "waiting for stop" and then it never does anything else. Maybe it works on some other versions of iPhones, or some other versions of iOS or on some versions of phones in other countries. But on my United States, iPhone 14 Pro, it never says "ready to go", you can sit there for as long as you want, and it'll simply keep saying "waiting for stop" even though I'm already stopped. I really wanted to work, maybe you could look into it, maybe there's something in the coding between different versions of the phone or different countries but on my phone here in the United States it absolutely does not work. I know the GPS works because it shows my speed correctly when I'm moving and it shows me as 0mph when I stop. But as I said, when I hit the start button changes to "waiting for stop" and then it never does anything else.

The developer wrote back in response to my first review and claimed that the app can measure some things without a payment, that is totally wrong: The moment you press the "start" button it immediately tells you that you must buy something. I even tried deleting and reinstalling it and after the reinstall, but prior to using the "restore purchase" It still tells you the same thing which is that you must pay a fee before you can do anything. Tomorrow I just tested this. Secondly, the developer said that when the car stops in the GPS shows 0 mph that the message will change from "waiting for stop" to "ready to go", this is also not correct. I can be sitting at an absolute complete stop and it will continue to say "waiting for stop" even though it shows my speed is 0mph and I am not moving at all. Maybe it's only on the iPhone 14 Pro, but this app still does not work and I stand by my first review, everything I said was accurate, the app is absolutely worthless until they fix the problem. IPhone 14 Pro: The app sounds like it's free, but it doesn't work at all until you pay in the app. Then, even if you do pay when you tell it to start the app displays "0mph / WAITING FOR STOP" when I am stopped. This is also on a bright sunny perfectly clear day was not a cloud in the sky, and a full five bars of cellular signal and full strength GPS signal. I don't know what the app is waiting for, but I am stopped. Even tried it in my house and sit the phone on a desktop and told her to start in it sits there forever with the same message "waiting for stop". So after paying in the app, it absolutely does not work or do anything at all except sit there is waiting for stop message when I am stopped. So it's totally Worthless!

Response from developer

The latest version 1.11.0 will work perfectly. Thank you very much for the feedback again. I have revised the answer. The app can measure 0-40mph or 0-60km/h or low without payment. After tapping Start button, “Function expansion” dialog appears, and tap “Cancel” button to start measurement without payment. If the GPS signal is weak, the operation may become unstable. When the car stops and “GPS 0mph” or “GPS 0km/h” is displayed at the left side of “CarTest” on the screen, the message” changes from Waiting for Stop" to “Ready Go!”. If the iPhone’s GPS function is working properly and the car is not moving, the speedometer will show “GPS 0mph” or “GPS 0km/h”. ----- Thank you very much for the feedback.
