Disappointing

This app doesn’t seem to give the complete rules, merely excerpts from certain sections and thus is useless. It also seems to require a network connection, which is difficult to maintain when out on the water.

Note that my first complaint might be removed if I were a member of US Sailing - I’m not sure, and am not willing to become a member to test whether that is the case.

Not a mobile app

The type is designed for large format. They didn’t even reformat it for mobile. It’s minuscule. Super disappointed. It’s just a doc.

Internet Connection Required

Although the description says I can see the rules “at all times,” what I think they really mean is “only when you have a live internet connection.” At least, I can’t figure out how to use the app in offline mode with the content downloaded—like when I’m out sailing!

Or maybe content can be downloaded…and it’s a UI problem.

Great potential, but the must be an offline mode.

You have to be a member

At no point does it say that you have to be a member of US Sailing to use the app. Waste of bandwidth as I’m not in the US and I’m never gonna join.

Would be nice if hey told you that you need to be a member to use this app. Not one mention except by a reviewer. And the response to that? We’ll add it to the description. Well, that was a month ago and crickets. Keep up the _______ work US Sailing and continue to make it clear you’re in it for the money.

Bogus description for To PDF

No mention of $65 annual fee to use this app.

If one is not a member of US Sailing, one must join for $65 per year to use the app and actually see any rules.

This should be disclosed in the description.

There is no option to purchase access without joining.

Thank you for the feedback! We will try to make the membership requirement clearer in the description. While access to the full Rulebook and the Dave Perry content requires a US Sailing membership, we do offer a portion of the Rulebook and the entire Appeals book for free in the guest account. Also, you're absolutely right that it should be easier to become a member and access all the content. Look for that improvement in the next roll out, due in a few weeks.We do hope you'll choose to join US Sailing in the future and we appreciate your comments.

wont run!

I have tried running this program on my I-phone< Ipad and Macbook air. It never loads properly on any device.

Major upgrade.

All in one place including the ability to produce a protest/request for redress and email to the appropriate place. Diagrams too. And now you can search the entire RRS and copy your selection. A+. Must have product for all smart phones and iPad.

Great improvement

This app is so much better than previous version. Easy to navigate and search. Love the reference pages and Dave Perry videos. A nice future enhancement would be hyperlinks to referenced rules within the rules text.
The whiteboard is a great idea, but the boats are always head to wind. If I could change the heading of the boats on the whiteboard then five stars. (iOS version)
