Works somewhat

It works great but for some reason after usage on my samsung tv it makes me allow it’s permissions tv and it gets annoying after a while i can’t figure out how to make it just work automatically without me needing an actual remote

Response from developer

Hi, This is unfortunately a bug with Samsung TVs that occurs occasionally. Please go to Settings > Manage Televisions > YOUR TV and then reset the token at the bottom of the screen - just make sure your TV is on whilst you do it. If you get stuck, please email support@adamfoot.dev so I can assist you. Thanks, Adam

Impressed

Does what it says, nice app. Straight forward to use. No problem linking to TV

Liking this bar one missing feature

This is a pretty awesome remote app, particularly due to the rich support for widgets. The one feature that appears to be missing as far as I can tell is there is no way of creating a widget to wake up the TV. The power button widget works to turn the TV off but not on and there doesn’t appear to be a wake action that can be mapped. With this gap filled, this would be a pretty perfect app. Great job!

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! Sorry about this - I'll be looking to fix this functionality soon! Thanks, Adam

Would Love To Use

Would love to use this app, unfortunately, the app recognizes my television on the network, recognizes the manufacturer (Samsung) and then errors out telling me that the IP address isn’t correct. Disappointing because other apps have had no problem connecting, but I would have preferred to use this because of the Shortcuts support.

For reference, my TV is a bit older (UN50KU6300)
but the fact that other apps connect easily and this app recognizes the device seems like it should be a no brainer to me.

Hi, Unfortunately Samsung changed how their TVs work after this generation and were much easier to support. As much as I'd love to support your TV, I can only focus on newer televisions I'm afraid. Thanks, Adam

Developer is very responsive to feedback

I primarily use this app for creating home theater routines in Shortcuts, and it works very well for that. I’ve had issues with a couple updates breaking functionality and requiring me to redo them, but the dev clearly cares about making the app as good as possible, so a few growing pains along the way are understandable. There’s still some mild quirks (shortcuts that run multiple TV commands in a row run slower than comparable apps I’ve tried, and with the current update I had to redo every TV Remote step twice for the settings to “stick” due to an odd bug that seemed to assume every option was set to “ask me every time” regardless of what was entered) but nothing that’s remotely a dealbreaker or doesn’t have an easy workaround.

Oh and if you’re not a nerd like me that likes making big dumb scripts to control every aspect of their home theater with Siri, this is also BY FAR the best standard TV Remote app I’ve used on the iPhone, and I’ve used a lot of ‘em. Clean, functional, and lots of great options that you may or may not ever need but are there if you do.

Hi, There is currently a bug that causes Shortcuts not to appear on iOS 16 for some reason so you’ll need to make sure you’re running iOS 17 on your device whilst I look into the issue. Please email support@adamfoot.dev if you’d like to discuss it further. Thanks, Adam

Update broke functionality

Latest update steamrolled shortcuts and broke tons of functionality. This is the second time this has happened, but the first time in which there doesn’t seem to be any replacement for the shortcuts (such as changing the source) which were removed, breaking the many macros I had set up which were working fine.

If I’m missing something, please let me know and I’ll happily revise my score back to the five stars it deserved. Unfortunately for me it’s now unusable until this is resolved.

The only app that worked!!

I downloaded a total of 3 apps before this one. None of them worked. I was about to give up but decided to download one last app…this one. It worked immediately!
Thank you!

Paid for once now they try to get me to pay again

I paid for this back in 2021. I only ever use it to adjust volume. Now the app has updated for a constant ‘tv remote premium’ that will pop up while I’m turning the volume down and will get selected since it pops up where the volume down button was. I will then get redirected to a purchase page. I already bought this app. I have to then go back and drag the remote up to access the now hidden down volume button. Remove the banner. You should not be trying to force purchases on me when I already paid.

Hi, thank you for the positive review! I'll see if I can improve the WOL functionality. Just to confirm, have you entered the TV's MAC address?

Worth EVERY penny.

As a published app developer, I can tell you there are many remote applications that do a few things somewhat well. This one pretty much nails, everything it attempts. Spend the full 20 bucks and get it lifetime.

Best TV Remote App

I use the TV Remote App with many LG TVs running webOS and I could not be happier. The free app worked well but the premium is worth it to me so that I can run many TVs. The app found the TV on the same WiFi network and with one click it was paired and functioning. Most universal remotes and app never seem to give full control of menus and setup. Without any changes or work arounds, this TV Remote app allowed me to totally control the TV and do away with the TV controller that came with the TV. This TV Remote App solves the solution of adding a TV into my HomeKit automated home. I now tell Siri it is movie time, and the lights go dim and the TV turns on to the proper input, my iPhone or anyone in the family’s iPhone is always on us, so now have control of my TV with no fuss. With out TV Remote App, I would be stuck looking for my remote under the couch. Note you could added a short cut on the iPhone and with Siri the lights will dim, TV on to proper input and the app launches on your iPhone.
