On average, less than 10 percent of the 450 million tons of plastic produced every year is recycled. While there are terrific initiatives around the world to move away from plastic to bio-degradable alternatives, that change will likely take some time. In the meanwhile, our planet is increasingly beginning to look like a giant ball wrapped in clingfilm.
