Unfortunately, it’s clunky :(
Yes, you can do a single sign on with your card to begin with but then it makes you sign in to a mobile version of the main website every time you want to see current checkouts, holds, placing holds, catalog, etc. while not physically at the library. I shouldn’t have to use an integrated web browser in the app when I can do that on my normal phone’s web browser.
To give credit where it’s due, Metro does have an advantage over Pioneer with the mobile scan-and-go checkout while physically in the library but unfortunately their app is much more user interface friendly and their app mirrors their branding. Being able to immediately see current checkouts and holds while being able to browse the catalogue just make me gravitate towards the competitor to use mobile services. Even getting to see upcoming events from just selecting a different tab on the main app is very pleasing.
I think a revamp of the app as well as a face lift for it would help persuade people to use it as well as market it to more individuals. I like using both library systems equally, but it’s disappointing when accessibility is leagues easier with one over the other.
