Roll20 User Reviews

I waited…

I waited years for there to be some sort of updates before reviewing, but this app appears to be abandoned for both improvements and support.

You can’t prep spells or roll damage, which is the main thing that it needs to do to be functional at a table. You can’t add to your inventory, but I could easily deal with that if it was functional in all of the other ways.

I truly don’t understand the point of rolling out a half finished app and never adding the very few things it would take to make it a staple for Roll20 users.

Lackluster & unfinished product

Most of the important portions don’t work. Spell lists & spell slots are not accurate on UI. Unable to edit inventory in any way. Not able to look at the campaign external Journel to read campaign material. Overall, it’s not a good product. Competitor’s, like DnD Beyond, is a much better product for character management & has a better UI. I hope the Devs for this app get some more funding & time to be able to do a full revamp this app & make it as good as it very much can be.

oh yes

Thanks!! I’m a newbie to DND and making character sheets are easier with this hehe

Buy content but can’t access it.

Huuuge ball drop on roll20. I’ve been using roll20 for years now to DM. I have probably 10-15 books for dnd 5e and now the 2024 PHB. I can’t access that content in the app. I have to go to a web browser and view the content I’ve paid for thru there. In addition, there is no character creation within the app. That’s also only on the website… which is awful on mobile. The only way to view a charter sheet is to make a campaign, create the character and assign it to yourself. Then in the app you can see the campaign and view your sheet within it. But even then, it’s not great. It’s buggy. Some spells or abilities won’t even give the description or info like cast time/concentration/distance ect. After using dnd beyond for an adventure league session, I realized just how useless this app is in the current state. If the devs really make it as valuable as dnd beyond I’ll happily give it a 5 star. As of now tho. Solid 1 👎 I love the desktop version of roll20. But this app ain’t it 🥴

Not a reasonable part of the roll20 experience

I just can’t see much use of the features on this app. There is no way you can play with it without still needing access to a the full vtt in a browser for the majority of basic functionality, which defeats the purpose of having an app.

When the next updates?

Honestly this app does what it should gives rolls and shows pretty much whole sheet.
Does need better work moving around on it between every part.

It should have an input toggle for rolls instad of just constant clicking to get X amount rolls.

Dissapointment. Just use the website.

I use roll20 for all of my dnd organisation, and when I heard that there was an app I was excited because I find that the Roll20 website weird to use when I don't have my computer on me. That excitement stopped when I opened the app and there was no way to view my character sheets. I'm assuming you have to be in an online campaign in order to view your campaign characters, but all of my usual games are in person, so this app is practically useless for me. It is also limited only to 5e. I mean it does have a 5e compendium search, but there is no way to filter these searches or browse if you don't remember the name of what you're trying to find.

Not great for inventory edits

I would really love this app if it just let me add and remove items in my inventory. It’s annoying that something this simple has not been put on sooner and still hasn’t.
If I want to add or remove items on the inventory I would have to use a web browser on a computer. This defeats the point of having it on my tablet.
I cannot even use it on the tablets web browser as for some reason it does not allow it.
Please fix this.

Limited Character Sheets

Was looking into this app for a friend who has a 16 year old computer that struggles with roll 20. Thinking this would be a good alternative for them to do the game on mobile. However the app does support all character sheets the issue is that it really only works with character sheets related to dnd 5e over character sheets like Pathfinder, Starfinder, Etc. Since we are running a pathfinder game guess we’ll have to try something else until they can add a working pathfinder character sheet to the app. If you’re looking for a dnd 5e game this app works good but if you’re running anything else its best to look elsewhere.

Another suggestion is the ability to customize the brightness with light/dark mode as a colorblind DM I struggled reading the black text on a dark gray background with white fill in bubbles. If by making the fill in bubbles a medium gray and the text white as you keep the dark gray background it could work but as of right now its not very accessible to those who have colorblindness or other vision struggles as it doesn’t stand out enough.

Bits of it work, some of the time.

Dice rolls in the app appear in the browser, which is cool. You can’t separately roll attack and damage, so damage always appears even if the attack fails.

Can’t edit inventory, can’t see my cantrips, SO much whitespace!
