Description of DART Connect

DART Connect makes it easier to travel around Georgetown and Millsboro at your convenience. DART Connect is a new, affordable on-demand microtransit service offered by DART First State to anyone traveling in Georgetown and Millsboro [and between] in Sussex County, Delaware. What does on-demand mean? It means you get a ride when you need it. No more bus schedules and shorter wait times. What is microtransit? Microtransit uses smaller vehicles, like minibuses, to transport several people headed in the same direction in a shared vehicle—similar to a regular bus route. Instead of a fixed route, microtransit routes are flexible to get customers to more destinations quicker. Social distance measures will be in place. How does DART Connect work? Users who download the DART Connect app or dial [1-800-652-DART [3278], Option 3] can request a pickup or drop-off anywhere within Georgetown or Millsboro. A computer program matches you with a vehicle traveling in your area. How do I get started? Start by downloading the DART Connect app, then create an easy account using only your name, phone number and email address. Confirm your location and input your destination to see the DART Connect ride options. Then, book and pay for your ride. If you are calling in, provide the same information to the representative who will give you step by step instructions. Who is driving the buses? The same drivers who currently operate DART Flex Routes 901 and 902 will be operating DART Connect. How much will it cost? DART Connect is the same fare as a DART bus ride: $2. You can pay with DART Connect, DART Pass or cash. If paying with cash, exact fare needed; no change will be made. How long will I wait? It depends on your trip. An accurate estimate of your wait time will be provided before you book your trip. Wait times may range between 5-15 minutes, much shorter than the wait time for most bus routes. You will be able to track the vehicle location in real-time using the DART Connect app. What else is helpful to know? If you are a wheelchair user, please note that in your DART Connect profile or mention that to the phone representative. Why are you offering this new service? To provide our customers with more choices. Questions? Call our 1-800-652-DART (3278), Option 3

Reviews of DART Connect

  • Great Drivers

Shay and Curtis are the best ! Thank you
  • Not as advertised; impractical service.

I’ve attempted multiple rides around the 8am rush hour, only to be hit with a message that basically saiys they’re too busy. Really? Hire more people, add more buses, and charge a bit more to compensate, duh! This is an on demand service and could work great!

The other infuriating aspect is that they advertise this service for Millsboro and Georgetown. It works for one side of the plantation lakes community and not the other, and has been like that for four years! The zip codes of these two towns are huge and they should service the entire area in my opinion. Even if we are strictly saying town limits only, we live in town limits and can’t use service.
