  • Not a well designed app, a poor system in general

This app is poorly designed, lacks intuitiveness, and is frustrating to use. It has a very outdated interface and the menu system is a mess. Annotating images can be a nightmare. I have college students working with this app and if they get frustrated and find it difficult to learn the system then something is not right.

We use this app with ipads connected via wifi with the leica scope cameras. I have no idea why in the year 2023 the camera connects via wifi and not bluetooth. The wifi is glitchy and so slow it can take minutes for the app to update the live view especially when you have more than five cameras on at once.

The app loses connection with the camera after a certain period of time (sometimes in as little as 5-10 minutes), and we have to go back in and reconnect them again. Sometimes the app will only show a black or very dark screen. Even after adjusting the brightness, condenser, exposure, gamma, and light out put of both the scope and the app it still will not change. In this case the whole camera needs to be restarted. To be honest I'm not sure if more of the issue lies with the camera, the app, or both. But regardless something in the setup prevents this from being a smooth and enjoyable system.

If you are using a single scope in a room then this app and system should be fine (interface is still not user friendly at all). But if you want to work with more than one scope going at a time, don't bother with wifi, just get laptops and use the desktop software.

  • Truly awful

This app basically doesn’t work. After much finagling I can get it to connect to the camera and capture an image. However, this process isn’t easy, usually doesn’t work at all, and even when it does, most of the on screen buttons appear to have no function. The interface is not at all intuitive and I am very disappointed that this is the software support myself and the college get after spending thousands of dollars on Leica microscopes and cameras. I will not be going with this brand of microscope or software in the future.
