Great for older people with dementia

I set this up on my father’s iPhone. He doesn’t remember everyone’s names but he does remember their faces. There is one bug. The widget load screen comes up from time to time, confusing my father. Please modify the widget so that this doesn’t happen. Thank you.

Lifesaver for my family.

My father had brain surgery, a seizure on the operating table and then two strokes in recovery. He forgot how to call us in the hospital. Adding these widgets to his phone saved our life.

Not working

I set up a couple of contacts and does not dial them. I tap the widget and it brings up the number which i tap and it just disappears. Waste of my time.

Hey Rivet Head, can you double check the configuration of your widget? The "Connection" setting should be set to an application on your device, for example, choosing "Open in WhatsApp" would only work if WhatsApp is installed, and "Call by Phone" would only work on a device with a phone functionality (i.e. not on an iPad). If the issue still persists, could you email me@epelaez.net with more details?

Just what I was looking for!

Very nice! Thank you so much for writing this app / widget! A friend wanted an easy way for his elderly mother to call him. The widget requires a bit of setup, which he can do for her. Then, it just works. Perfect!

Last but not least: THANK YOU for not collecting user info. Yours is one of the handful of apps that respect user privacy. Something I always look for.

I'm happy to pay for good, privacy-respecting apps like yours. Maybe it's more trouble for you than it's worth, but might be worth adding some way for users to contribute toward app maintenance.

Impressed

I normally do not write reviews so soon after installing a app. This speed dial widget is just what I need! I work at a hotel and sometimes need to call the police quickly! This speed dial widget could very well save life or limb! I will give you SIX stars ****** Thanks!!

Coulda Been a Contender 🤮

There are two major flaws that if they were fixed we would give a 5 star rating. It’s hard to believe Emilio didn’t think this through.

1. The icons need to have a 4th and SMALLER size which would be the standard size for all iPhone apps. The contacts name would then go under the icon picture just like the regular apps do. The current ‘small’ size is way too big and takes up 1/6th of the screen!

2. The app icon is grossly redundant. One should have to simply click ONCE for the action chosen to be executed. Instead, when we click on an icon picture we are then prompted to click AGAIN to make the phone call. This second step is completely unnecessary and does nothing but waste your time. It should be one click and the contact’s number is dialed!

Our current rating: One very anemic star ⭐️

Thanks for trying Speed Dial Widgets. As the title suggest, this app uses Widgets to display contacts on the home screen, and Widgets come in four sizes (three on the iPhone). This app uses the smallest possible size of widget. And as it’s mentioned in the app description, as well as the app when the widget is used, the system forces apps to confirm the phone call to avoid misuse of the call API (without this protection an app could make a call without your input and spy on you). I hope you can reconsider your review.
