For example, if the ground elevation was 2,000 feet at the launch location and the ground elevation is 2,200 feet at the location where the drone is currently at then 200 feet is subtracted from the altitude that the drone reports because the drone is not aware of ground elevation changes and only reports how high it is from the place that it took off.
