Reviews of Session Notes AU

  • Good, it could be better with a smilie improvement.

With large sets and effect chains, the icon is too similar to any number of eq or audio related AU in general. This is one app where the ability to change the icon would be extremely helpful. For instance, the ability to just have it say “text” as an icon would really differentiate it spacially as a reminder.
  • Nice but needs two important things

Very nicely done! This is something extremely useful as-is though most people probably don’t realize how useful it can be. And for the price, there shouldn’t be anything to complain about. Unfortunately it’s missing two things that really hobble it.

First, it needs to save its state in the host app session. For instance, if a particular note is displayed when the session is saved, it needs to be restored when the session is reloaded. I was going to give 4 stars but this is a deal breaker.

Second, it would be super, super useful if notes could have a midi message associated to them (such as a Note number, or a CC/value combination) so that the note will display if the message is received by the app. This would make it possible for lyrics or performance notes could pop up when needed.

With the two above features, this could be a 5 star app. But even without those, at this price I’m not disappointed that I purchased it. So thanks!
  • 3 Stars For A Great Idea

But it needs some serious improvement. Mainly, it does not save its window status in the host AUM; each time I reopen an AUM session, I have to reopen the window for Session Notes, position it where I want it, and select the correct note for the session I’m using. This should all be saved in the AUM session. Entering, saving, and updating notes is quite awkward, and a lot more difficult than it needs to be. But I really believe this is a great idea and very useful for noting details about a particular session in AUM. When improvements are made, I will be glad to give this 5 stars.
    UPDATE 4/8/2022
Downloaded and tried again just to see… some improvements have been made, but Session Notes STILL does not come up in AUM a with the correct note for the session already open. There is no need for the app to store all your notes for all your sessions. A simple text window which saves its text for each particular session it’s used in would be just fine. IMHO, saving all your notes with the app is kind of overkill for this purpose.
