Reviews of CNET

  • Articles

The video news reels at the top of the screen doesn’t update to show new footage as it has in the past. I’ve had the same videos at the apps’ heading for months. I thought it may be a glitch, so I deleted the app, downloaded the app again with the same results. I have an iPhone 13, which isn’t very old. What gives?
  • Keeps getting worse…

I think CNET started dieing when it started venturing into politics and when their great talent started to progressively leave. Every update makes this app worse and worse. Now every time I try to open it, it’s asks me to update to the new version. Do they test the app updates before releasing? It’s ironic they have such a poor “tech” app when nearly their entire platform (reason for being) is based on reviewing technology I’m also fed up with the constant political articles. I use to go to this to escape politics… but it smacks me in the face nearly every time I look at. Very disappointing!!! I just have to erase the app and get out of the habit of looking at it…
  • Falling into disrepair

I’m a longtime CNET reader, but have been very disappointed with the declining quality of this app.

Starting February stories have been getting stuck at the banner section up top, and the log in feature to save topics and preferences hasn’t worked.

Reported this as feedback in the app, and not even a token response. Not sure what’s going on behind the scenes at CNET, but it’s starting to feel like they are in a downward spiral and unable to maintain their site and app effectively. Hope it’s just a bad coincidence, but if not I’ll be looking for a new source of tech news in the near future.
