Version History of BookFolder

1.1.2

April 24, 2024

When reading a book, you can now tap on the page number indicator (below the page thumbnail browser) to enter a specific page number to jump to. Tapping on a link in a book that goes to an outside resource or site will now prompt for confirmation before opening the link. Fixed a couple of UI bugs where the title in the navigation bar was not being updated promptly in certain situations, such as when renaming a book while it was being read.

1.1.1

Fixed a bug that could cause certain Unicode sequences in book or folder names to become garbled.

1.1.0

November 23, 2023

• You can now tap on a group separator in the folder list to collapse the folders under it. Useful if you have a really long list of folders and just don’t want to look at all of them, or if you want to rearrange groups of folders more quickly! • Books can now be sorted automatically by name or by the date that you added them to your library, if you like. (Your custom book arrangement will be remembered and you can switch between the different sorting orders at any time.) You can also enable an option to show the date that each book was added. • There’s now an option to move from page to page by tapping along the left or right edge while reading. (Swiping or selecting a page from the page browser still works, as well.) This can be enabled or disabled via settings. • Added a new Welcome Guide to tell you all about these amazing new features! If you’re upgrading from an old version, then you can optionally have it replace your old Guide with the new one; or become a collector and keep a copy of every version ever released, like trading cards but marginally less cool. See the Settings for details. • And finally, a bunch of little UI tweaks and “under the hood” performance updates. (The old version was good, but this version is even better!)

Description of BookFolder

Organize your PDFs, set custom covers, and choose from several theme colors and icons, for a pleasant reading experience just the way you want it. • Create folders and folder groups to keep your PDFs organized however you prefer. Rename and rearrange things as the mood takes you. Name every single book and folder the same thing, if you really want to! (I don’t recommend doing that, but nonetheless, that’s the sort of awesome power that you wield if you use BookFolder.) • Set custom cover images for every book (or stick with a book’s default cover, of course). Your library will look the way that you want it to! (And the underlying files remain pristine, so if you begin to regret choosing a photo of your cat for every book in your collection, you can always restore the originals and no one will know. Except your cat, who is judging you now.) • Get wild on an iPad with split-screen multitasking support. Read two books at once (or the same book twice)! If that’s something that you want to do. • Swap between five theme colors, for an interface that works best for you. (Dark Mode support, too, of course!) • Choose from a dozen icons, from solid colors to subdued platinum to a retro rainbow look, to fit your mood and to ensure a harmonious home screen layout with your other apps. (I’m not the only one who arranges my icons by color and design… am I?) • You can use it to actually read the PDFs, too, of course. Mustn’t forget that part. • Plus bookmarks, searching, and table-of-contents support, as one would expect. • Also, it’s free, no in-app purchases, no tracking… just a nice PDF reader and library manager. I hope that you’ll enjoy it!

  • Simple but Perfect

This app is exactly what I needed to quickly and easily organise documents to view them easily as I require the ability to access multiple PDFs quickly. The app is incredibly easy to use, and the categorisation makes this such a useful app. The ability to directly import from Safari means building a library of PDFs is super quick. I’ll be recommending this to anyone who needs something similar. I love the customisation as well. Amazing job Molly!!

  • If you have books/Pdf’s - you need this

I have spent hours searching the App Store , looking for a visual file/folder type of organizer for my way-too-many book collection. Just a general, all around storage-preferably that works with PDF format. Quite by accident, while looking for something else, I found this hidden jewel. I love it.
If you love books, have a lot of them, and prefer them in PDF format-and want a solid, simple, no glitches way to organize and store your books ( I have just over 200 in this app) then download this app! It does not have 40 functions, and there is a little how-to handbook; but you don’t need it. What it does do, is create folders to organize and store books or documents. A small list on the left “ nests” title separators and their folders, and on the right displays large folders, and nested inside are large books with the actual book cover as the icon. Or the first page of a document. You can change the cover, if you wish. There are no hidden prices for anything, it’s an actual free app! Never glitched on me, and has never crashed. This app should be an essential, if you have lots of pdf with no home

  • Good, but has room for improvement

This app is mostly good, but there's one irritating bug where the zoom level resets whenever the page is turned. This won't bother you much if you're reading fiction, but if you're using it for anything you have to reference (I use it for Tabletop RPGs), the default zoom level gets the top and bottom of the document blocked off by the overlay, at least on an iPad Mini. I'll bump this up a star instantly once this bug is fixed.

Also, this app doesn't support vertical pages like Apple Books does for PDFs, and doesn't support multiple books open at once. I don't care much about the former, but the latter would be very useful for me and I'll bump my review up to five stars if multiple tabs are ever added. (Assuming the zoom bug is fixed too, of course.)
