First, let me say that SimpleHelp is by far one of the best remote support software you can find. Installing and configuring the server is extremely easy and using the technician console is awesome. The fact that my technicians can move files to remote PCs, view cpu/ram/ssd stats, edit the registry, see the event viewer, etc., all without interrupting the person using the PC is a huge improvement coming from VNC and ScreenConnect.
That being said, this mobile app is absolute garbage. It definitely seems like this app was an afterthought and the devs created it in 10 minutes. Why isn’t there a mobile technicians console? Why will the app not work if your server isn’t setup to be accessible outside of the network, even if your remote device and the mobile device are on the same network?
SimpleHelp and its developers really need to focus in on the mobile aspect of their software and server. More and more people are starting to use iPads in lieu of laptops. Developers need to spend a lot of time making the mobile support app more useful, and accessible when the tech and the support user are on the same network when using a SH server that doesn’t have outside network access. Also, there REALLY needs to be a mobile technicians console. I know my company isn’t the only company that would like to have a mobile technicians console app or the only company that keeps their SimpleHelp server behind a firewall without access to the web. I’m currently testing out the SimpleHelp server at my current company, and am planning on purchasing at least the 5 session business license and maybe more than that. I have used SH at a previous employer and loved it, but always wished there was a mobile tech console. I’ve used the software since 2012, if memory serves, and the devs have kept making the software better over the years. It’s time to put some focus on a mobile version of SH.
The fact this server can run on Linux, Mac, and Windows servers is also incredibly impressive. Plus, the remote support and technicians console work on all three operating systems. Please add iOS, iPadOS, and Android to that list.
