I understand the frustration. Let's try to get this resolved for you. Please go to Settings > Tap both the Notifications & Location Services and tap Turn On? This will prompt for any permissions required. Also be sure to always allow location. You should get notifications online and offline. They are all local to the device. I have tested sending emails to that address and it is working. I've tested the functionality of this app on many iPhones.
