Let's Play! Oink Games User Reviews

Oinkingly good fun!

Comes with Deep Sea Adventure unlocked and ready to play. A great push your luck game. Where the deeper you dive the rewards are higher, but the chances of running out of air are greater.
I have also purchased Scout a card game that is getting a lot of praise. Easy to learn and exciting to play. All the purchases are £4.99 each. Works well on an IPhone not yet tested on an IPad.

Scout

I like the game but there are never players online so you pay £3 just to play repetitive easy to win games with CPU. Not worth it unless they improve the Play With Anyone Online function

Fantastic!

I own several Oink board games and they’re always a hit when I bring the out at gatherings!
The one thing I’d love to see is asynchronous play with friends! We all love these games but don’t always have to to sit and play through a full game!

Dream come true!

Perfect translation of the portability and charm of Oink games! I own the physical Deep Sea Adventure board game (and at least one other physical Oink game) and can’t wait to be able to play with family and friends online when we can’t play together. Looking forward to exploring more Oink games! Also: devs, would Maskmen work?? :) And is it possible to make a bundle of all games as an IAP? Maybe as a set of game “seasons”?

Great but a bit overpriced

Bought StartUps & Scout out of the collection here because they are two games I was really keen on - & have enjoyed both.
Thing is, for such simple card games, they’re somewhat overpriced & am very unlikely to pay for any more of their games offered up here.

Make the difference

I wish there were more pictures to choose from.

AI is bad

The AI at least in Deep Sea Adventure is pretty terrible. Can’t speak for most of the other games.

Just purchased this, but seems like beautiful iOS rendering of the classic OINK games

My family loves OINK travel games: they are so clever, well-designed, beautifully rendered and compact for travel. 5 stars for the real physical thing. This app seems to take the original board games and move them online beautifully, which is perfect for our needs at this stage in life — we can carry our favorite games, without carrying 3-4 boxes with us. The app itself seems beautifully designed and the games so far appear faithful to their physical variants. Each board game is purchased as an additional module within the core app, and the prices appear OK (I wish it was $2 per game, rather than $3, but fair enough). I am excited to test this out further, and I suspect my kids will love it. Well done *again,* OINK!

Fun games

I love these games, Scout and Deep Sea Adventure.
The contact page is only in Japanese. Shame there isn’t a package deal for all or some of the games at a discount and or with consideration having bought the physical games.

Response from developer

Thanks for the comment! As a first step, we have made the inquiry page available in English.

AI plays well enough, but the app needs to save games

For starters, I should say that on this app I have only played the free Deep Sea Adventure game and the one game I purchased, Scout. I own and like the IRL versions of both of these, but got the app for practice and for when I felt like a game but had no live players around.

I win both games in the app a little more frequently than average, which suggests that I’m either a very good player (doubtful) or that the AI is an average-at-best player (more likely). That’s fine; I lose enough that playing doesn’t feel trivial — in my opinion the AI is good enough.

I attempted to play other live human players in the app, but that hasn’t worked. I suspect it’s not a problem with the app itself, but rather just a lack of people using it. Thus an Incomplete grade for network play.

The one downside is that when I leave the app midgame and open enough other apps on my phone that the app has to be pulled from memory, the state of my game is not saved. Just about every other board game app I’ve played saves the game state as app data, so that you don’t lose a game you’re in the middle of. It seems like it should be a relatively minor update to fix this, and save users like me some frustration.

All that said, a solid 3 stars; and at some point I’ll likely make more game purchases in the app (especially if the saved-game suggestion gets implemented.
