  • You were supposed to be the chosen one

When Syrp came out with the magic carpet it was the best slider in the game. Then the Genie Linear and Genie Pan Tilt brought 3-axis motion control to the masses and the app was good. They changed the game with the Genie II and new sliders and a much needed app update with Keyframes and other features. Life was good. And then Manfrotto took over.

Ever since then, the entire Syrp product line has been dead. No new products, no updates, no improvements. The app has been the same.

The Genie II still works, but is missing compatibility with new newer cameras. The app is dated and is missing features to make it on par with other motion systems. The only positive note is the Magic Carpet Pro slider is still the best in the game.

In 2024 if you are looking for a manual slider, the magic carpet pro can’t be beat, but for motion control look elsewhere.

  • Fails to Connect

The Manfrotto app fails to connect to the Syrp Genie Mini I have. The Syrp app does connect and works, though with bugs and unreliable disconnects with the device.
  • Doesn’t even turn on- app cant find genie

Manfrotto what are you doing with this garbage. So disappointed I spent so much money on a product thats completely unusable. The instructions don’t even tell you which app to download and then both of the apps cant find the genie at all. The genie doesn’t power on or off (just powered on all the time) so its just a rubber piece of garbage. I wish it wasn’t. It looked like it was gonna be much better. This makes me question Manfrotto’s other products

  • Buggy - panorama causes app shutdown

Can work through the bugs to make it work but the app will normally shutdown 3-4 before you can get it to take a panorama.
