Developer fixes bugs and this app is actively supported.

Broken

Wrote a bad review, developer responded asking for a chance to address the issue. After multiple emails for days there is no response from the develiper… this app does not work after upgrading to pro and paying money!!! The Developer never responds to emails. Apple gave me a refund.

This is certainly not what we expect from our app. If you provide us the specific details we will figure out where the issue maybe. Our latest version fixed a bug for iPads not properly handling a popup alert message. Give us a chance to address this and email support@skytip.net for a quick response.

Celestial Nav

This is one of the better Celestial Navigation tools for iOS in the App Store. I have tried many including the de facto expensive Star Pilot but while many of them have a wealth of functionality under the hood, they are designed for experienced navigators with very little thought gone into the user interface. Some of them are akin to entering data into a database and really do very little for people just starting out with a sextant. Celestial Nav has a clear easy to navigate user interface that thankfully has arguably the most intuitive data entry systems of the majority of other apps. It is also extremely powerful and as accurate as Star Pilot and I would have no qualms about using it for navigation in any situation. In fact the user interface makes it easier to get results quicker than some of the other offerings in the App Store.
Finally the backend support from the developers is superb with email questions answered within 12 hours.
Considering the relative low cost I would place this app at the top of my Nav list. Highly recommended and 5 stars for an extremely well thought out accurate product.

Good app, responsive developer

I'm updating my review again!

This is a solid app that I've found very useful for learning about celestial navigation.

I previously found a couple of bugs in the app and reported them. The developer addressed then immediately, which is really great to see.

I recommend this app for its general usefulness as well as the responsiveness of the developer.

Not working

I paid for the seven day trial. The app seemed to work on the first day when taking sun and moon shots, but the Hc calculations did not seem to include either pub. 229 or pub. 249 corrections, the LOPs were not drawn and old LOPs could not be deleted. When testing with Arcturus on the second day the Body selector could not be be changed to a star and the app kept crashing. This may have been caused by the Star Info page being empty. Even after rebooting my iPad, I could no longer select any Body. There seems to be no manual whatsoever to be found for this app.

Sweet app! Best one I have seeing for accuracy and lots of additional features 🤓. Developer gets back to questions pretty quick too.

Incredible App

This program does all the complex calculations necessary to determine your position based on your own measurements. Its fun to do the old fashioned way, but is very nice to have a precision calculator like this when you need it. Highly recommend!

Very accurate

The best one out there and so much of it is free! Amazing tool that works perfect for my sight reductions. Highly accurate and spot on with text books and for class room work. I use it for marine navigation and hope to see speed corrections included as well.
