  • Great app!

I’ve been using touchosc for quite a few years, and it’s super solid, and easy to use. Highly recommend!! The new update is a big step forward, and well worth it. I would pay a lot more for this app.
  • Have to buy mk1 version

Every time I try to type anything the screen goes blank and I can’t do anything. Have to restart the app every time. Not really useful till that’s fixed and I can’t get this version to connect to touch osc editor either so that workaround doesn’t work.

    Developer Response

We have solved this problem in an update some time ago! If you are still having issues, please do get in touch with support using the “Contact Us” button on the about screen! Thanks!
  • Disappointing

I have the original version of TouchOSC which works OK, but this new version doesn’t even connect. The manual isn’t very helpful and, as another reviewer has said, there aren’t any video tutorials.
Would give zero stars if I could.
  • Hexler stepped it up!

Wow! What an amazing update to TouchOSC!
  • MIDI evolved

Most MIDI controllers on the AppStore that were good now seem to be 6+ years old, tired, clunky, and barely maintained. It makes you feel like MIDI is dying.

This is a breath of fresh air - new, slick, incredibly powerful, with a beautiful editor. MIDI has a future!
  • Touch OSC and Hexler are the best

This app is the best way to control MIDI from your iPad, iPhone or Android device. Simple and quick when you want it to be and deep and powerful when you want that.

Add to that the best tech-support I’ve ever gotten from any company and this app is a no-brainer.
  • The must-have studio companion!

I’ve been using TouchOSC every day for over 10 years now, both in the studio and on major concert tours. I could not live without this app. Well OK, I could live, but it wouldn’t be near as much fun!

It does so many crucial things and streamlines my workflow in ways nothing else can. Custom key commands & MIDI controllers, show control, you name it. Easily one of the best peripheral apps for audio/video/music ever made!

  • Very disappointing

I had mk 1 and used it but found it really awkward. I had hoped this would be better after such a long time since the releases. Unfortunately it is not. Difficult to connect. Poor documentation. No practical examples. No you tube stuff. Video on website is self indulgent crap. It is like showing a paint brush and some paint then showing the Mona Lisa. It obviously works as you can connect to reaper with a template but no guidance on customising. Come on guys put up a tutorial on how to connect and setting up basic midi and OSC projects. And finally why would you buy a licence for the desktop app - it offers absolutely nothing. Very disappointed.

  • Developers need to provide more support with videos.

The latest version app could use demonstration “how-to” videos on their website. They only have two videos: one is showcasing with a bunch of lights and the other is a DJ using the app. It’s not as easy or straight forward for users to get up and running right away compared to the old mk1 version. UX/UI design is very important and can make or break a company if not a lot of people adopt the product. The manual could use screen captures images of how-to connect the app, setting up, designing a template from scratch, etc. The FB page and group ‘TouchOSC template makers’ have unanswered request for help with users left quite frustrated. Many other developers have great YouTube videos or thorough step-by-step screen capture instructions for their product.

  • Great but missing 2 things

Great app, the panel menus are pretty clunky but eh whatever (It’d be nice to have notes instead of numbers for midi note-on values etc.), and being able to copy and paste messages instead of entire controls would be huuuge (copy/paste parameters from/to different controls) but there’s 2 things that keep it from being truly amazing...

    1. Attack and release values for local-data and midi cc’s, as well as the ability to ADD TO and SUBTRACT FROM (not just SET) cc and other values (prefer hermmutt lobby’s beatsurfing app from 2013 for this reason). Ive spent a few hours with the Lua scripts and it’s not worth the effort for time based effects like this (may as well use max for live).

    2. The ability for touch to pass through and hit multiple controls at once (not just the on that’s on top). No longer making "capture attention" required was a HUGE improvement (made it possible to make surfable/strummable instrument designs), but it’d be even better if you could hit both controls at once when they overlap.
