Description of Learn IUPAC Nomenclature

With Planetary Nomenclature Neptune, you can easy and playfully learn about the correct nomenclature of organic molecules. You'll get simple, precise tutorials which help you playing through over 70 levels. This way you will become a nomenclature pro in no time! You'll get to know the nomenclature of organic molecules in both directions: in some levels you will match molecules and their names, in some it will be the exact reverse and often the app will enable you to draw molecules yourself in something like a building box yourself. You can also get creative in the creative mode of Planetary Nomenclature Neptune: Just build molecules yourself and let the app name them for you. This is especially helpful when you don't really know how to name something and you just want to try it. Also really useful: Colorful markings of the molecules to indicate corresponding parts of the name and the option to hide the name and challenge yourself. Currently there are level packages with over 70 levels for alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alcohols, aldehydes and ketones. Additionally, you can build halogen alkanes and acids. Ring structures are currently not supported (yet!).

  • this is how apps should be made

I love this app. So many of these less-downloaded apps (apps not as popular as instagram or facebook) have horrible user interfaces and require exorbitant subscription fees to be useable, with the intent that you forget about the subscription and give them as much money as possible without the app devs actually having to make a decent app. this app is not like that. it charges you a reasonable $4.00 one time fee for access to all the functional groups, but almost all are available without the fee. to me, this fee obviously goes primarily towards maintaining the app. if it was there just to make the devs more money, it would be a subscription and it would cost more. the UI is beautiful as well. i can really tell that the devs put a lot of thought and care into this app. there cannot be peace in this human world. but i dream of a world constituted exclusively by paul schwinds. maybe in that world there is peace. at least i can dream.

    Developer Response

Wow! I am speechless. Thank you so much! ❤️
  • Great App for the basics

Love this app to freshen up on basics. The only downside I have seen so far is there isn't new material being updated into it and if you download it on your iPhone, your iPad wont pick up the progress. I started using the app on my phone and got far, but when I downloaded it on my iPad, it gave me the premium features, but started over all the sections I had beaten before.

  • Good learning app

This is good if your learning the basics of naming and just want a fun app to practice on. Only down side is there hasn’t been much in the way of addition functional groups such as amines or carboxylic Acids.
