  • A Great App That Could Use Some Improvements…

Edit: I’ve updated my review to reflect the changes implemented by the developer, which added most things I asked for in this review! Thanks so much for the response and the great updates!!

The UI is pretty intuitive for anyone who has used Pinterest, and makes searching for patterns on mobile and updating projects pretty easy. That being said, at it’s current stage, it’s missing a lot of the functionalities of Ravelry that make the website as great as it is for fiber artists. The only reason I have listed it as three stars instead of four is because the app (at least to my understanding) trying to deliver Ravelry functionality in a more accessible, mobile app and is missing some of those key features. If this assumption/understanding is incorrect (as there might be some legal issues with that, I’m not familiar with app development), I would love to know so I can change my rating accordingly! Normally, I would have sent my recommendations for development through the help and support line, but that button in the app unfortunately just takes you to the website landing page for the app, which in turn only gives you links to download the app and the blog, so the first recommendation I have is to allow users a way to leave feedback and suggestions without having to solely leave a review, or at least to have some kind of FAQ. The biggest improvement I would love to see as development continues is the “adding to favorites/library” function. Currently, you can add things to your favorites or library, but that’s it — there’s no option to add tags to the patterns for easy sorting and access, and in turn no way to filter or search things in your library or favorites from the app. You just have to add, scroll, and hope for the best, which is really unfortunate and takes away one of the most useful features of Ravelry. (Somewhat related, it would be really lovely if there was an option for users to reorder the filtering options when searching — having the scroll all the way to the bottom for yarn weight, one of the three parameters I limit most often, is rather frustrating.) I would also love to see the project editing development further as well; specifically, it would be great to have the full functionality of that feature, like updating yarn used. Currently, I’m throwing all those details into pattern notes until I have the time to update it on the website in my browser. The last development suggestion I had (and this might just be my personal taste) is the menu — when clicking on the buttons labeled “favorites,” “library,” and “projects,” I was expecting to be taken to a separate window in the app that showed just the things from my Ravelry account. It seemed like the easiest way to access just my projects or go to my favorites list without having to tab through the options on the patterns tab (which is the only way to access your favorites list, another thing I find very frustrating in terms of UI). Instead, those buttons simply take you back to the relevant tab on the homepage, which was not only frustrating for me as a user, but also seemed really redundant, since the UI for the homepage isn’t complicated. Overall, this is a really promising app and one I’m happy to keep paying to subscribe to. I would love to see some of these suggestions implemented (especially the one concerning being able to tag and search favorites and library) and I’m excited to see where it goes next!

    Developer Response

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review, I really appreciate it!  I'm pleased to say that most of the features you mentioned are currently being worked on and will be coming in the next app update.  As you expressed perfectly, I really want to make a great experience for accessing Ravelry through the app, so if you have any other features you'd love to see please just pop me an email at feedback@kntdapp.com.   Thanks again, Sam.
  • So many missing features

Can’t buy patterns thru the app. It takes you to the webpage to purchase.
    Can’t follow or like designers.
Can’t add friends. Tried to search my friend and nothing came up (yes I had her username right)
Can’t organize your favourites into folders.
    Can’t update your profile picture.

It’s good for browsing patterns and viewing your purchased patterns but that’s about it.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of my app. Some of the missing features you mentioned are currently being worked on and will be available in the next app update, sadly some of them are not possible as Ravelry don't expose this functionality to developers. If you have any further feedback please just pop me an email at feedback@kntdapp.com. Thanks, Sam
  • Not too bad.

This isn’t a bad App, it’s fab for seeing your library but not essential as logging into ravelry isn’t that hard. What I think would make it amazing would be if you could list your yarn stash - you can add stash on your ravelry account. Not sure I will continue after the free trial, If there was an option to list / store / select / use your yarn that would be better and I would subscribe

  • Amazing

This app is amazing for new crocheters because you don’t have to waste money on patterns if you are just starting and trying it out. I have been crocheting for almost 2 years and even now this app is still great because money is right now a days is tight so this helps if I’m short that month.
  • Chat

Can you chat with a friend?
  • Bountiful App

As a collection of patterns, free and paid, this app delivers the goods. A search produces many patterns under the parameters used. I highly recommend using this app.
  • Great App

This is a wonderful app for knitters from beginners to advanced. However, in the past several years, I’ve developed neck and shoulder problems that have gotten so bad, I can no longer knit. I need to cancel my subscription, but have been unable to find any information on how to do so. I finally sent an email to customer support at kntd.com yesterday on the off chance it will get to the correct people at their company. So far, it hasn’t been returned as undeliverable.
I highly recommend the app to any knitter, but would advise Mr. Harrison to add instructions that can easily be found on how to cancel a subscription for those who want to do that.

    Developer Response

Hello, I’m really sorry to hear that you are no longer able to knit and that you’re having trouble cancelling your subscription. You can cancel your subscription by going to settings inside the app (found via your profile) then tapping ‘Manage Subscription’. If you can’t find this option or it doesn’t seem to be working please get in touch with me at support@kntdapp.com so I can help you get this sorted. Thanks, Sam
  • Love

I do love this app. I just wish there was some way to save a designer you like.
Also when you go onto newly added or most popular I wish there was a way to just pick out the craft you want. Like when you search for something you can filter it. You can’t on the other two.
