Usage

This app seemed very attractive. However there is no clear explanation in how a person is to use it

Response from developer

Hey mate there's a pretty detailed FAQ list in the app. Alternatively there's a Contact button so feel free to get in touch that way via email if the FAQ's don't answer your questions.

Glucose Polling interval

Do you guys have an FAQ anywhere? Was looking to see what the default polling frequency is? Or if this is adjustable? I use a CGM that uploads to apple health but wasn’t sure how frequent and up to date the readings would be.

Response from developer

Hi, there is an FAQ. It can be found by going to the Settings tab in Glucomate and scrolling down to where it says FAQ. Tap that to view the FAQ. If the FAQ doesn't help you can send me an email and ask directly. The way to do that is the Contact button in the Settings which, conveniently, is located just below the FAQ button. To try and answer the question you've asked: If your readings are in Apple Health, Glucomate will show the latest and should keep it up to date whenever the app is open. There's no need to poll for readings as such - once readings are in HealthKit they are available to Glucomate. If you're talking about how often widgets/complicated are updated, that's a little more complicated due to system limitations such as only having limited widget updates (we try for every 10-15 minutes) and only having access to the HealthKit database when the device is unlocked. If you have specific questions about that, it's best to get in contact and I'll do my best to explain what's going on. Thanks, Zach

Glucomate great

Great app I like it as well as my mom

Response from developer

Hi! I'm glad to hear this, and thank you for the kind review. 😀 - Zach

Very nice, but missing Watch complications

Yay watch complications are there now!

Response from developer

Hi Jon, Glucomate is relatively new and I'm still working through a long list of features to add. Watch complications are on that list, just haven't gotten around to it yet. If there's anything in particular you'd like to see in a complication, could you let me know by getting in touch via the "Contact" button in the Settings tab of the app? That way I'll be able to keep it in mind when I get around to building the complications. Thanks.

Can’t get it to start monitoring!

App doesn’t provide clear instructions!

Response from developer

Hi, I assume you're the one who's been emailing me? As I said in my email reply: You either need to input readings manually each time you take them, or if you have a fingerpricker or CGM that sends your readings to HealthKit on your iPhone they are available in Glucomate. Your iPhone/Apple Watch themselves cannot record your blood sugar alone. Put simply, if you don't currently have a way of monitoring your blood sugar (either by finger pricks or a CGM), Glucomate isn't for you. Think of Glucomate as a convenient way to view trends and summaries of your data, not as a way to actually measure your blood sugar. Hope that helps. Thanks, Zach

Waste of money

If you are getting this for the watch complication don’t bother! Although you do get a complication on your watch it’s time delayed the the reading is useless, unless your interested in knowing what your reading was 30-60 minutes ago! Want my money back!

Response from developer

Hey, I'm sorry to hear Glucomate isn't working out for you. You're able to request a refund from Apple (developers can't do this directly). If you Google "request refund app" you should find a link pointing you in the right direction. To explain what is going on here, the timeliness of the complication updates depends on when your glucose meter sends the reading across to HealthKit. They don't all do this in real-time. There can also be a delay in the readings being sent from your phone to watch. It comes down to a variety of factors outside of our control, but Glucomate will update the complications when a new reading is received on the watch. I'm interested to know a bit more about how your readings are being sent to your phone. If you could get in touch via the "Contact" button in the app and let me know that would be appreciated. Thanks, Zach

Not happy

I can’t get it to check, I don’t have the monitor.

Response from developer

Hey, this app is for people who already record their blood sugar and want a nicer way to keep track and/or view summaries of the data.

Marvellous!

A fantastic app from a dedicated developer.

The app (on iPhone and WatchOS) are super easy to use and are well designed.

The app pulls in data super quickly from Apple health without issue.

Most recent updates for iOS 17 were great as it brought the addition of Home Screen widgets and a subsequent update brought Apple Watch complications which was super welcome.

Please keep up the good work!

Thank you for the very kind words! 😀

Easy to use.

Love this app. Helps me keep track of my levels very easily using my watch. A reminder system would be great between level checking and whether the reading was before or after eating when using the watch to record your levels.
I would also love a worm graph instead of the dots.

Don’t pay for premium- false advertising

The App Store page, and adverts within the App itself, claim to have Lock Screen widgets and Apple Watch complications. Neither of these things are provided.

The closes you get to a widget is a long press on the app icon allowing you to log a reading. There are no actual widgets provided. The Watch App does not have complications that can be added to a watch face- just a stripped down version of the iPhone App.

Shame, as the app itself isn’t bad, but premium is a huge false advertising scam and should be avoided.

Hi, make sure you are running the latest software on your iPhone and Apple Watch (iOS 17 & watchOS 10 or later). Once you do this, make sure Glucomate is up-to-date, and you'll find that both Lock Screen widgets and Apple Watch complications are available. If you have any trouble with this, please get in touch via the "Contact" button in the app and I'll do my best to help from there. - Zach
