Pretty good except hints are missing
I really like this type of game and bought the premium pack after the first level. However, some of the hints are missing and there doesn’t seem to be any way to make them show up. I click on hint and nothing happens. I go to a different level and it works. Then another level and it won’t work. Very frustrating.Show lessWindingRd

Mystery Box — Hidden Secrets, Evolution and the Room as well — are all enjoyable games.
Most puzzles moderately difficult, but a few required the built-in hint to solve.
I wrote developer for advice to solve one of the last boxes in the final stage of the room — received response w/in a day! (ty).
I look forward to the next app in the mystery box series!

Tried to get a hint. Watched 2 ads and was given the hint of “after you solve the puzzles, push the big button.” Yeah, real helpful there - THAT PART WAS OBVIOUS. Next ad gave a hint, but it flashed on the screen and disappeared before it could be read. Hints must stay long enough to read. Next ad-watching revealed the same hint as the first time of pushing the big button.
Seriously, all this developer did was rig the game such that you’re watching ad-revenue more than actually playing it. And don’t ask for a hint or you’ll be in an ad loop that you can’t escape from.
This needs to be fixed. I’m deleting this one. There are too many good puzzle games out there that don’t do this.Show lessDottyG

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it, I’ll fix the hint timing soon. Btw, when you ask for a hint you must usually be on a different side than the one of the button to open the boxUpdate review. I really love this game.
Hints don’t work only in the second box. Works on all the other boxes. This really is a lot of fun.clauxman

The big secret seems to be how to make the game work!! I got through the first two boxes (having paid for the full set) then on the third (Black) Box, I can’t get No 2 to accept any press on one face, and on No 7 not a single face will work so I’ve given up. At some stage I may try the odd box (if it works) but I’d be dubious about paying for other XScoder games.Show lessLittlehampton Chich

Thanks for your feedback, anyway, for instance the Black Box nr 2 works only if you unlock the wheels by moving the lever to a specific position (can’t spoil the solution :) Use the bulb button to get hints when you get stuck, and feel free to get in touch at xsgames.co, I’ll be glad to help ;)Frustrating

I like this game so far. The puzzles are challenging and you really do have to think outside the box. However, I agree with other reviews that the “hint” does not help you understand how to solve the puzzle, it just shows you the answer. It would be nice to have some text to explain the reasoning behind the answer so you understand what you should have done. Or any system of better hints than just a walkthrough that shows how to pass the level.
Too many ads, although I know you can pay to remove them. Why can’t the ads be limited to asking for a hint? Would make the game less frustrating.
