This is a scam, but if you fall for it you’re missing critical coding skills.
I could tell this was deceptive the second I saw the icon (AAPC has a style guide, they dont use this font, these colors, and REDDEST OF FLAGS: the email given in the description obviously isn’t associated the AAPC and is shady in its own right. The developers name is shown in chinese characters; AAPC is based in Utah, USA.
I put this garbage on my machine just to leave this review in good faith and hopefully save a few of you who still think you’re getting into an easy desk job.
Do more research into what you’re getting yourselves into, please, because it’s only easy if you have the skills needed to do it thoroughly abstracting notes for hours without getting bored or distracted, you have to apply critical thinking, be able to ask for missing information, and be willing to learn from your mistakes instead of arguing.
You also can’t get by without a grasp of common sense/common knowledge…like I don’t understand how working-age adults are lacking basic computer literacy and are trying to get a job that dependings on operating software. If you fell for this, please consider some Coursera classes to catch you up to watch will be considered entrylevel skills in the work force.
Y’all are paying an organization $200/yr that you arent invested in to check if they’ve EVER mentioned an app or anything like this being offered by them. If they had this available, they’d be selling it for way more — since official aapc practice tests sell for over $100 each, I doubt they’d volunteer to take such a pay cut.
Most importantly, medical coding credential exams arent something you can memorize your way through. Its an open book exam. Just learn how to use the manuals, buy a couple workbooks, and get off of the internet. They key to you passing your exam is not behind a paywall, it’s not someone elses notes - it’s gathering and processing info until it clicks. One day you’re reading a forgein language and the next it’s second nature, but only if you practice and identify your weak spots. People (myself included) oft fall pray to procrastinating the actual work with little tasks that won’t improve your score. Time is precious, use it wisely. Good luck.
PS, “Pocket Prep Medical” is $15/m or $35/q, has about 750 real prior AAPC CPC exam questions, full rationale with sources and you can build all kinds of custom quizzes for yourself. They are legitimate. No
