  • Love it

Genius app reminds me of Daylio for NVC
  • Favorite Mood Tracking App

I’ve only been using Humanly for a little over a week, but I love it. It’s simple enough where I can log multiple times a day without losing the motivation to do so, but still provides an array of useful features. I love how there’s a graph to visually show all the moods I’ve logged, and the 3 steps in the process of logging have really helped me take a deeper look at why I feel what I do. The app is also very aesthetically pleasing overall, and super easy to navigate.
At the time I’m writing this there’s only one bug I noticed, but I emailed the developer and he was very quick to respond and very nice.
Highly recommend, especially if you’re someone who’s tried other apps but lost interest.

Glad you've been enjoying using the app so far! Apple just approved the bug fix. So if you update your app, then hopefully there will be zero bugs you notice :) Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any thoughts or feedback in the future. Best, Justin
  • Finally something helpful

There are many layers to this journal app, I wanted to be able to write about my feelings and track them and this gives me an easy platform to do that. There is also really helpful content about dialogue, which is something I sometimes struggle with. I’m only just discovering the habit feature, hoping it will help me get motivated. Thank you for being free! It’s such a turn off when you are in the middle of something and they start charging you to finish your thought. I feel cared for.

I'm happy to hear that you've been enjoying the app. I put a lot of care and vulnerability into the dialogue content, so I feel especially moved to hear that you found that useful :) I'm always looking to improve the app. If you have any feedback on the habit feature - or anything else, I'd love to hear it! • Wonderful and Efficient!!

This app really provides great insight into the emotional impact of maintaining positive habits in your life. It’s interesting to track emotions and habits in one spot and see the correlation between the two. The app is nicely designed and simple to use!! I love that I can add an entry in a few seconds and still have meaningful data. I use this as a complement to another journaling app because of the insights feature.

  • The app I’ve been looking for

Humanly is a rare source of truth in an untruthful world. Never before have I seen an app that combines educational content with mindfulness exercises so seamlessly. I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking to enrich their life in a non-typical way.

I’m also planning on adding more customization options in the next month or so to help users personalize their experience in the app. Best, Justin
  • So helpful. (and mind-blowingly free)

I’ve been duped before by apps that claim to be this helpful and offer this level of quality information, all for free. Every time, it’s been a sketchy data collecting operation, with cutesy cartoons and obvious “tips” for getting more in touch with your emotions (take a deep breath and count to 10!) This app is the only one I’ve found so far that breaks that mold. It is not out to make money off of me. Whoever created it, was motivated by something bigger than that, and I am so thankful to them. The way the information is presented is so easy to understand, while still containing a wealth of knowledge; and I have learned SO much from it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this!!

  • Phenomenal app!!

I’m truly very impressed with the simplicity and clarity of this app. It helps you to get straight to the point in realizing the needs that are being met or not being met behind each one of your habits. This helps you to design your habits more intelligently.I also really love the feature to log feelings and emotions because that gives deeper insight into the needs that are driving each one of the habits in our life. The creators have clearly incorporated the crux from Marshall Rosenberg‘s book Nonviolent Communication, which is what I think makes this application so simple yet extremely powerful.

I really love everything about it but I think there is so much room for further development. I feel that information could be better organized and better displayed visually for people to have a better Birdseye view on their habits and feelings and particularly how each one of their habits are related to their feelings. I think information right now is just displayed in a list and there is especially room for improvement in this regard.

My main feedback to the developers would be to 1) create a better way for users to visualize information more intuitively in a way that allows users to connect the dots between their feelings, needs and habits in which they engage. And 2) Everything should be stored on the cloud, because people tend to change their phone every year, and it would be a shame to lose one’s entire log of a year just because things are not stored on the cloud.

I would happily pay for the service if these two things are resolved. Thank you so much for creating such an awesome app I really do forward to his further development!

You are correct, the app is heavily influenced by NVC! I was introduced to Nonviolent Communication a few years ago and it completely changed my life, not just in how I communicate, but my orientation towards the world as a whole. I think this orientation has many fascinating applications beyond conflict resolution - such as mindfulness, healing from trauma, making habits, making friends, compassion, etc. My goal with the app is to help make NVC more accessible and explore different applications of the orientation that NVC fosters. I'm very excited about all the room for future development! 1) In the latest update (3.0) - there's some more details on each habit as it relates to the user's feelings and needs on days where the habit is completed. To access this, tap on the calendar icon for your habit. I think there's still a lot of fun and interesting ways to improve upon this, and I will explore different visualizations in the future. Please reach out if you have any ideas or suggestions for this! 2) I've heard mixed wants on this. Some users are very weary of Apple and putting their data on the cloud (especially something as sensitive as journal entries). However, you are correct that it would be a shame if someone lost their data. To satisfy both camps, I think it makes sense to provide the option to export and sync data to the cloud, but not make it a requirement. I plan on putting this into the app within the next month. Would you be okay with this solution? 3) Thanks for the helpful feedback and kind words! Feedback like this helps motivate me to continue putting work and time into the app. I will probably put a donate button into the app in the near future - to support various efforts such as helping me quit my day job to work on Humanly full time, finishing the Android app, creating lessons, marketing Humanly, providing resources for those who don't have a smartphone, bringing on more people to help, etc. With that being said, I don't plan to ever put any of the app behind a paywall. Currently, the most under-resourced communities have the least access to mental health services such as therapy, education, mentorship, etc. I would like to change this - even if it means that Humanly's development and growth is slowed a bit. If you have any more thoughts or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out at jsw104@case.edu :) Best, Justin
