Balanced, timely, and relevant news!
Shades is not only a beautifully designed product that’s fun and engaging to use, it also helps me stay on top of all kinds of trends and news from sports and current events to pop culture and politics. Having it installed on my phone helps me stay informed, and whenever I want to learn more about a topic, I can almost always find more details in the app (with a variety of balanced perspectives). I highly recommend it!

News but relevant and fun
Wow, what a novel idea to have news actually report all sides of an issue and not having to go to opposing publications to get the full picture. And to make it fun and interactive? I used to open the NYT app and was usually disappointed but this has now replaced my other news apps and I’m not going back. Go shades team!

breath of fresh air!
I stumbled upon this news app, and I have to say, it’s a breath of fresh air! easy to use and has all the news headlines I need in one sentence summaries.
I like how the app doesn’t overwhelm me or make me anxious like some other news sources. I appreciate the mix of politics, sports, pop culture, and more—it keeps things interesting.

Easy way to digest news
I used to hate reading the news because of my worry about bias and misinformation. With its blurbs from multiple news sources, I don’t have to wonder if I’m getting the full story or if I’m only hearing one side on the topic. Highly recommend this app for someone who wants to stay up to date on current events without exhausting yourself over gathering multiple takes of one topic.

Fun News Aggregator
Shades is a great way to see multiple news perspectives on developing news stories. It’s intuitive and fun to use! The writing style (no capitalization, emojis) and overall design feels like it’s aimed for Gen Z, but I’m optimistic there will be more templates/skins designed for different targeted audiences down the road. Most importantly, this app effectively aggregates sources from outside my normal news bubble - there aren’t many apps that do this well.

THE BEST WAY TO GET NEWS QUICKLY.
I know there are news articles and such but sometimes you can easily read something and it doesn't make any sense. Shades breaks down the article and explains what is going on in the world efficiently. Before their rebrand, I was a huge fan of this app and then when they rebranded, I couldn't get into the app. I contact their support through instagram and they replied back quickly and said they will be working on it. Today, they messaged me and told me they made a new update and it should fix the issue, and it did! I am now able to get into the app, as it is one of my favorite apps to use. The people behind this app are great people and you can tell they appreciate the users of this app with the way that they remembered me. 10/10 I recommend this app. ❤️

News that doesn’t overwhelm me
I hate that news is just reading headlines, even though the actual story has nothing to do with what the headline says. Shades feels like a way to access news quickly, but not have to worry about being deceived by click bait headlines. I cannot recommend this more highly!
A better Twitter trending page??
Overall a fan of my first impression of the app so far. Very impressed with the breadth of topics on the home page, it's interesting seeing world events/happenings interspersed with urban dictionary esque quirks and trends. Very easy to pick up and scroll on a whim. One note is I'm too sure what "shades" as a ranking is supposed to mean; it's not obvious to me if that's from the emoji react or not and how to interpret it.
