Description of Hebcal Hebrew Calendar

Hebcal displays today’s Hebrew date or this week’s Torah portion on your watch face as complications. The watch app shows the next 2 weeks of Hebrew/Gregorian dates and a full year of Jewish holidays and Parashat HaShavua (Shabbat Torah readings). No frills, no gimmicks, no notifications, and no ads! The Hebrew date and weekly Torah portion can be displayed as transliterations in Sephardic (e.g. "Shabbat" or "Sukkot") or Ashkenazi (e.g. "Shabbos" or "Sukkos") or in Hebrew (e.g. "שַׁבָּת" or "סוּכּוֹת"). Select Israel from the settings if you are based in Israel and want to see the Israeli Jewish holiday & Torah reading schedule. The default setting is for Diaspora (outside of Israel). Hebcal (pronounced HEEB-kal, as in Hebrew calendar) provides Jewish calendar and holiday information. Our mission is to increase awareness of Jewish holidays and to help Jews to be observant of the mitzvot.

Reviews of Hebcal Hebrew Calendar

  • Does not work anymore!

Worked perfectly on my Apple Watch 7. Just got a new Apple Ultra 2 watch and even though App Store says app is purchased (from before) it does not show up in Apple Watch App to use within watch face options or as app on the watch itself. Very frustrating. Help please!
  • Cannot remove app stuck in my phone

This app is not allowing me to remove it and i cannot access it
    poor app no support
  • I need help!

I installed Hebcal a month ago and was very pleased. I need the Hebrew date everyday since I’m a teacher in a Jewish school. Last week, the wrong date appeared on my watch. When I pressed the app on my watch , it reverted to the whole face description and showed the correct date. But when the IWatch face showed, it was still on the wrong date. I deleted the app from my iPhone and wanted to reinstall Hebcal and was unable to find it on my iPhone. When I go to the App Store it shows that it is purchased. How can I correct this situation? THANK YOU! Your suggestion to go through my watch to the App Store and download it that way worked!

    Developer Response

If you install Hebcal for your Apple Watch and then delete it, it may be difficult to reinstall. This problem occurs because the Hebcal watch app does not have a companion iPhone app. To reinstall the app on your watch, you won’t be able to use the App Store on your iPhone. Instead, you will need to open the App Store on the watch itself and search for (and install) Hebcal. Press the Digital Crown to see the Home screen, then tap the App Store. Then, search for Hebcal. If you’ve downloaded the Hebcal app before, you’ll see a blue cloud icon with an arrow pointing downwards. Tap the blue cloud download icon to download and install the Hebcal app on your watch. Or, you may see a small blue “GET” button if the watch believes the Hebcal app has never been downloaded to your watch. Tap the GET button to download and install the Hebcal app on your watch. Then, tap the blue Open button to launch Hebcal.
