I actually climb & I absolutely love this game. It may not be exactly like the real thing but it’s dang close. The “puzzle” within the game is the same on a real life rock climbing wall/outdoor rock. You have to think which hand to move where, and same goes for your feet. I definitely feel as if this game could/will help me with my climbing. Great stuff!

Fun little game

It's a fun puzzle game, not a realistic climbing simulator. Took me quite a few rounds to figure out the exact rules. Especially the rules about dynos are unintuitive and could be explained better. But basically, if you don't have enough time to move your feet, it means your beta is wrong, nothing wrong with the controls.

Some of the levels are really fun to solve. Some look like they were randomly thrown together. At least one of the levels appears twice (Archenemy aka Pub Crawl).

Overall, it's a fun game to play on the toilet, but could do a slightly better job at explaining the game mechanics, and some of the levels could be a bit more interesting.

Thanks for the review and feedback! I've tried hard to explain the game mechanics in different ways for the last 3 years and I'm afraid its simply a bit difficult :)

Fun and exciting game

I am a rock climber, and I think this game is super realistic to the real thing. You can customize pads your character and there’s so many different levels. I found out that you can eventually do a dino. I think it’s a really fun game.

Glad you like it, thanks for the review! :)

Could be a good game… but…

After about 4 levels the difficulty becomes ridiculous. The time given on holds before you fall off is only a second at most, completely unrealistic to real climbing. The controls aren’t responsive enough to make the 4 moves required before falling with either control systems.

I notice another review mentioned the same thing in May 2022 and the developer replied to say he would look into the controls.

It doesn’t seem like anything has been updated.

It’s a pretty game, a little more tweaking and it could be fun. It’s just too frustrating as is at the moment.

Hiya & thanks for the feedback! So what you're describing is what I often see when folks are trying to solve a level the wrong way. Every level has a sequence of moves that should not be difficult to get in terms of reaction speed - but finding those sequences will often require a bit of thinking. It's obviously on me if it comes across as a game about reaction speed, but I hope this suggestion helps you find the fun in it! If you still feel it's too difficult, send me an email to m1ndg4mes.studio@gmail.com and I'll help you out with some hints! Also that update I mentioned is coming but I'm packing a few more things into it, current ETA is February! :)

A bit stiff

Not very responsive to swipe around. Big difficulty spike early on means I can’t progress.I associate climbing with a leisurely pace but the time-out holds come thick and fast turning it into a string of QTEs.

Hey there! Sorry the difficulty ramps up a bit quick for you, but thanks for the feedback! I will look into easing into the difficulty a bit more. A good strategy is to use the "View" button (center bottom when on a safe hold) and plan out your moves in advance. If you have the right sequence of moves down the execution shouldn't be all that challenging. You can also enable the "Practice Mode" to turn the timer off. Oh, and if the swiping isn't for you, you can switch to screen-buttons in the settings! Cheers

Disappointing

Quirky, repetitive and annoying. Oh well.

Thanks for the feedback, sorry it wasn't your cup of tea! :)

Great stuff!

I recently got into climbing in real life and I really appreciate the attention to detail here! It’s really fun and challenging. Hope to see a more levels and a level editor soon!

From a climber for climbers! Enjoy the sore forearms and stay injury free! :)

Serene

Captures bouldering in the outdoors beautifully. The visuals are great and feel quite complimentary to what it feels like to be outdoors during a session of bouldering. The music is extremely relaxing which provides a super chill feel to moving through the problems. The star system provides a level of challenge for those that want to find the ultimate solution to the routes. The added multi-locks and dynos provide new ways of looking at the problem-solving Crux has provided in the past. Absolutely enjoying every minute of it.

Refund me now or I’ll give a bad review

I need to be refunded

Response from developer

You already did :) Developers can’t refund purchases as far as I know - but you should be able to request one through the App Store. Feel free to leave any constructive criticism here though!

Great addition

So far so good. Definitely more polished than the amazing original, but I miss having ratings for the climb and so far it’s a lot easier than the predecessor. Still I love it!!!

Update: moving to five stars as the difficulty definitely upped. Getting close to 3 stars on every route!

Response from developer

Thanks for the kind words! If you can get 3 stars on all routes make sure to join our Discord and get celebrated - not sure anyone has managed that yet! :)
