The unit works fine. The power cord is to charge unit, but it won’t power on until a SIM card is inserted. NO…you don’t have to attach a SIM to your phone service as many comments state. You can pay $5 or $10 on eBay and get one at a random service provider. It’s a DATA only SIM.
You can pay minimum charge and refill it if you need more data. That simple.. If you can’t read the instructions, try to look it up online. In regards to the app, your phone should pop up and give you option to translate (iPhone). It may not translate complete app, but I’m not complaining. For what it’s doing for me for the low cost, I can put up with a little inconvenience.
