Watch bricked by update

I’ve been in touch with the company. They keep giving me instructions on how to fix the watch that their update broke. I’ve tried multiple times. Opened a new account. Redownloaded the app. The watch won’t connect properly and the watch is now unusable. I don’t recommend the watch or the app to anyone.

Is anyone actually developing this app? Hasn’t worked on iOS for a while now

I bought my S1 Pro years ago and quickly put it aside because of so many issues with the screen being too dim and the UI being tough to decipher. The watch has been sitting in my dresser for a long time and I decided to check it out again today to see what changes they might have made to the firmware and the app. Well, sadly, the answer is unknown but it appears to be more of the same out-of-touch response from Spintso.

I am on an iPhone 14 Pro Max on iOS 17.4.1 and every time I try and launch the app it crashes immediately even though I am using the most recent build from Feb/March 2024. Which brings me to the legacy issue I mentioned in a review I left years ago on the website. Namely, as refs who are not professional, we spend a lot of time reffing a lot of games over the course of a day or week and having no ability to manage the watch from within the watch itself is incredibly frustrating. For example, after not using my watch for over a year it has the wrong date, year and time. Not sure why but it’s off by months and years which is in itself concerning for a watch. The only way to adjust the settings is via the mobile app and if the developer doesn’t keep up with Apple OS releases (like right now on May 31st, 2024) your watch becomes useless for any function. Not being able to adjust time or settings directly from the watch extends into setting up games. Its just bad and it’s clear this watch was not well thought out and had they made any of the changes I mentioned 2 years ago it would have made it much better. Why bother building a crappy ref watch and rushing it out to consumers when you clearly put no effort into the product? For now I’m sticking with Refsix app and my Apple Watch Ultra. It’s by far the best experience to date but even that watch could be so much better. Apparently, it’s really hard to give us the basic functionality and ease-of-use we want.

Watch not useless

My S1 watch, purchased new September 30, 2023, sat during the winter plugged. It in yesterday to charge and it said it needed a firmware update. After the firmware update was completed, the watch can no longer be used. Just solid white boxes where the writing and icons used to be. The “fixes” they mention to correct the UI and Font fail on the app on every attempt. Still waiting to hear back from the emails I’ve sent. Only contact phone number is in Sweden, which is of no help to me in the United States since they answering service was in Swedish. Do not buy their products if you expect any type of customer support.

Pretty Pointless

Looks good and has smooth actions, but the whole point of the app is that it sends information to the watch. The Set up match feature doesn’t sync with your watch. My S1 syncs easily, shows a green sync icon, but the app doesn’t talk to the watch. No help on the FAQs and emails are ignored. I have a old Spintso (now Retro) watch and this is actually better. Feels more rugged and easier to use. This ‘smart’ watch is a step backwards in terms of use-ability. You may as well have an I-watch with a dedicated app.
