Welcome to Plinky 2.1, a fun update focused on reading, fixes, and ⊹ nice touches ⊹ ⊹°⊹ Features ⊹°⊹ ⤷ You can now choose to open links in Safari’s Reader Mode, for a cleaner reading experience. This isn’t a full offline reader mode yet (that's coming in the future), but it should make many webpages that are littered with ads much more readable. ⤷ A new…sletter from Plinky, Links You’ll Love. I'll deliver a nice weekend treat, directly into your inbox. Three heartwarming, thought-provoking, and enjoyable links to read, along with a few funny posts from the internet straight to your inbox. I just thought it would be nice to curate a few articles for Plinky users to read. :) You can sign up in Plinky's Settings screen, on the new features screen, or at links.plinky.app. ⊹°⊹ Smaller Improvements ⊹°⊹ - There is now an Archived Links Folder, letting you simply view just the links you’ve archived. - The Settings screen has gotten a little face-lift, to make updating your preferences clearer and easier. - There is now a live counter showing you how many links will be displayed on the app icon badge when you select or deselect Folders and Tags/Archived/Unsorted links. - There are five new deeplinks, including three to open screens in Settings. You can now open the Link Customization Screen, App Icon Badge Settings Screen, and the Save Screen Preferences Screen from any automation. You can also open any link in Plinky's browser, or link to Plinky's newsletter (though I'm not sure why you would do that). - The Include Untagged Links button no longer a button, but a simpler toggle. - Fixed a long-standing bug where it wasn’t possible to unselect certain tags that were selected. - When deleting a tag or folder that was currently selected, the tag or folder will now properly be unselected after deletion. - There should be performance and data consistency improvements when saving a link. - Sounds are now disabled by default. - And last but not least, I’ve added more logging to make it easier for me to debug any problems that may arise.

Welcome to Plinky's biggest update yet! Plinky 2.0 is all about customization. Introducing a Customizable Save Screen, Customizable Long Press Actions, and a Customizable App Icon Badge. * Customizable Save Screen * Saving links in Plinky has always been quick and easy, today’s update features a power up to the Save Link Screen. Previously when saving a link you could tap the Edit Link button and edit a link’s Title, Notes, Folder, or Tags. Now there are 3 customizable buttons and 8 actions, all available without ever leaving the Save Link Screen. Build your perfect workflow by assigning these actions: - Add Link To Folder - Add Tags To Link - Pin Link - Copy Link - Open Plinky - Archive Link - Share Link - Edit Link To choose your preferred actions open Plinky’s Settings and tap the Save Screen menu. * Customizable Long Press Actions * Remember all of those actions I mentioned on the Save Link Screen? Good news, they’re all available in the app whenever you long press on a link. The same way you can customize Plinky’s Swipe Actions you can customize the Long Press Actions you’d like to use, to ensure you’re not overwhelmed by a swath of choices. To choose your preferred actions open Plinky’s Settings and tap the Link Display menu. * Customizable App Icon Badges * There are many ways to use Plinky, and none of them are wrong — to me you’re perfect! I’ve noticed that a lot of people are using Plinky as a place to read articles they’ve saved for later, so this improvement is for those people, and the beginning of an upcoming feature. ;) Previously whenever you saved a link that wasn’t archived, your app icon’s badge (the little number you see on the Plinky app icon) would go up. That isn’t conducive to many people’s workflows, and goes against the spirit of making Plinky the perfect home for your links. Now you’ll have the ability to customize what Folders or Tags make that number go up, whether to include Unsorted Links, and if that number includes your Archived Links. The best thing about this, it’s… you guessed it… customizable. Want to see how many Unsorted Links you have? No problem. Want to only see your links tagged with Reading List? Consider it done. Go ahead and build your own system. To choose which Folders, Tags, and Links will badge your app icon open Plinky’s Settings and tap the App Icon Badge menu. * Smaller Changes Worth Mentioning * I always listen to users and doing my best to improve the app, if there’s something you’d like to see please let me know! Here are a few changes that I snuck into Plinky based on user feedback. - You can now Add a Link to a Folder and Add Tags to a Link in one tap. Thanks to Plinky’s new actions it’s easier than ever to organize your links. - The Save Link Screen is easier to exit. If you don’t want to wait for the animations to finish just tap outside of the box, and move on with your day. - Folders are now displayed full width across the app, and tags take up as much space as they need to display all of their text. This improvement means you can always read the name of a Folder or Tag, even if your Folder has a long name like My Private Links — Stay Out Mom. - There was a bug where the titles of color packs looked like COLOR_PACK_PRIMARY or COLOR_PACK_PASTELS, my bad. Thank you Romain and Sophia for letting me know! And as always, there are many tweaks, improvements, and polished up buttons to keep Plinky looking beautiful.

1.0.11

1.0.11 fixes a crash for Plinky specifically on the Mac that could occur with the new empty links screen: thank you Padraic for the bug report. Earlier today I shipped version 1.0.10 which contained these improvements: - For those of you who like to get to Inbox Zero, you will now see a simpler screen when you run out of links. It's not as simple as it looks though, I recommend playing with the link and text to see what happens. ;) - Long-pressing on the Plinky logo gives you three quick access options: Re-Sync All Links, Sync Latest Links, and Sign Out. Tapping on it still as always will scroll you to the top of the screen, weeeee. - Adding a new home screen quick action to change your app icon, how whimsical!

This version fixes a crash, offers a new way to lookup a user's Plinky ID, and addresses a few minor layout issues. - There was a crash that would occur on some iPads and Macs when trying to create a new Folder or Tag, it should now be resolved. - Your Plinky ID is now retrievable by using the deeplink plinky:///x-callback-url/actions/lookup?value=plinky_id, which will show a prompt to allow other apps or Shortcuts to access your Plinky ID. - The Folders/Tags sidebar on iPad and Mac was slightly off-color, my apologies for missing that detail.

This version fixes a few Plinky launch bugs, and even improves a few user experience details. - Links can now be saved from more of Apple's apps such as the App Store, Maps, etc. - Swapped the placement of the Create Folder and Create Tag buttons with the Suggested Folders and Suggested Tags button for the sake of consistency. - Making the Folders and Tags list text a little less bold and a little more nimble. - Moved the Plinky Pro subscription status text to the bottom of the screen so it's not always in your face whenever you open Settings. - Shrinking some file sizes to create a smaller download size. - Support emails no longer say Plinky Beta Support, because Plinky is no longer a beta. They will also say "on macOS" in the operating system field when the iPad app is running on macOS, because it's the little things that matter. - I updated some placeholder text to say Wikipedia page instead of Wikipedia article, you'll have to look around to find out where.

Reviews of Plinky

  • Lovely and addictive

As a 60+ year old I’m not that much into apps. Plinky won me over by a combination of simplicity, being cute , and ultra practical for my needs. I use it only to store links. What a convenience after all my other attempts to save links and keep them

  • Great app, in app purchase is broken

In app purchase never works. Just reverts to the screen that asks for money.

    Developer Response

Did you happen to get a chance to try the instructions I provided over email support? I would absolutely love to make sure you get a chance to use the product you paid for — I have no intentions (or ability to) make you pay again!
