This version adds the following features and changes: - For ECF users, we added a second button to PACER receipt pages. Now when you are buying a document, you have a choice of the untouched, normal "View Document" button, or a second one that will "RECAP" the document when you buy it. It's great!. - UI elements added by the extension will not be visible when you print PACER webpages. - Shift focus to support: Rename 'Help' tab to 'Donate' and enhance content. - The RECAP Privacy Policy is updated, simplified, and clarified. The RECAP homepage, FAQs, and screenshots are updated.

September 29, 2023

This version adds the following features and fixes: - Adds a warning sign to the toolbar icon when users are on a ACMS website - Adds permissions to access ACMS URLs. ACMS is the new CM/ECF replacement for the Second and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, which goes live for all new cases on Oct. 1, 2023. We do not currently support ACMS, but because users have to acknowledge permissions changes, it's important to get that manual step out of the way as soon as possible as we work on the code.

2.0.2

This is a small bug fix release that fixes a nasty query that hammered the CourtListener API. It's a relief to have it fixed! We also fix a couple of other things: - Better document link filtering on district and appellate court reports(#341). - Better case ID capturing on district court docket reports. - Change the naming style of the data attributes the extension attaches to documents links. But ultimately, this was about making RECAP not take down CourtListener...

Features: - This is a big release that finally launches appellate support in RECAP. We expect bugs and shortcomings, but the basics are finally here and we can't wait to get your uploads. - We added a new button to district court docket pages that lets you buy just the stuff from PACER that we don't already have on RECAP. You'll see it. It's great! - Add banners to advertise @recap.email. If you're a filer, check it out! - Add an actions button to PACER docket pages. Fixes: - One of our oldest and most frustrating bugs, the scrambled docket bug, is fixed. Nobody could reproduce this for years, until finally we did. - More robust uploading of attachment pages - Docket reports accessed through the reports menu are now properly uploaded - Failing tests are fixed. - Remove option to "Confirm before opening RECAP documents". This option really just slowed down our users, so we finally removed it. - Now we upload iquery.pl docket summary page from district courts, so we can get even more information into RECAP. - Tighten security by verifying the sender's identity in communication between Window objects. This prevents a theoretical attack vector that might, with a lot of care and effort, have been able to send bad data to the RECAP Archive. We have no evidence of this ever being abused. - Fix logic to handle links from appellate PACER to district PACER - Fix logic to avoid duplicating RECAP banners - Better case ID capturing on district court docket pages - More robust uploading of case query pages - Add the caseId parameter to doc links in Appellate Pacer - Remove checks that were disabling the extension

Reviews of RECAP Uploader

  • Absolutely vital

It's utterly incredible that the federal government have managed to paywall the court filings that are meant to be publicly accessible. It made no sense ten years ago when I was in law school, and it makes even less sense now since the argument regarding costs is essentially spurious. We should be so lucky that when the state fails to provide ready access to the public the transparency required for the rule of law, we practitioners and even interested parties can step up. Keep writing your reps and senators, they can change this. Meanwhile, I shall keep RECAP on, for the record.
  • Amazing Free Software Any Lawyer Should Have

I have been using RECAP for years, and am constantly amazed at how awesome it is. It has save me so much time and expense, it is astonishing it is free. There's also a way to search other filings online for free. In short, not onliy does this help me, but it helps anyone wanting free access to the law.
