Insert circles by hand! Like a compass. Now it's possible to unlock the full potential of the Smith chart, with the new button for circle insertion, as many circles as you want can be inserted in the chart, and no parameters are required for positioning them: with the finger drag the circle to change its radius keeping the center in place (like a compass), or press the circle to translate its position, or change the radius keeping in place the opposite side of the circle using the little squares that appears after pressing. With handmade circles, ruler and point reader this chart can easily replace a physical one, making its use far more faster. *Bug fixes

Description of Smith Charts

A great experience of the Smith chart. Also in dark mode. With hand circles, ruler and point reader this chart can easily replace a physical one, making its use much faster. Functionalities: - Works on iPhone and iPad. - Drag and zoom in the chart. - Create multiple Smith Charts and name them. - Switch easily between input and output plane. - Use a ruler and drag it with the finger or Apple Pencil to obtain the wavelength toward generator of a point on the chart, instantly. - Tap the chart with the finger or Apple Pencil to show the coordinates in algebraic notation, then tap on the pointer button to show magnitude and phase of that location, and the corresponding impedance. - Insert circles by hand; modify the radius dragging a circle to keep the center in place, or press to translate them and modify the radius keeping the opposite side in place. Then use the padlock button to disable interaction of gestures with circles. Advanced tools for engineering: - Insert: scattering parameters, specifications (Ga, Gp, Gt, NF), noise data (gamma s optimum noise, minimum NF, rn) and the input/output reflection coefficients. - You will see the results appear on the chart while you are inserting data. - Results representable on the smith chart: input/output stability circles, equiGa, Gp, Gt, NF circles, reflection coefficients towards load and source and optimum power coefficients. - Other results: obtained results (Ga, Gp, Gt, NF) and stability results (D, K, kind of stability). - You can also insert a custom circle and a segment in the input and in the output plane, defining its center and radius in a textfield. - Choose the color and if to show or not every result. - Choose if to show or not the label of every result.

  • Gives completely wrong impedance values

I bought app specifically because the description said it would give you the specific coordinate values, including the magnitude and angle of the impedance and I wanted to get precise values instead of estimating from a paper chart. Well it does do that, but the values it gives are utter nonsense. I have no idea where it’s getting its numbers from, but they have no clear relationship to the actual coordinates on the chart. I’m very disappointed.

    Developer Response

Hello, I’m sorry for this, please contact me with the email support to solve. Anyway the values you see are correct, the ones that appears on the top right corner tapping on the chart are denormalisied (multiplied by 50ohm): The ones on top are the modulo and phase, on bottom the corresponding impedance, then the values on the red dot are the Cartesian coordinates relative to the plane. Again, if that does not makes sense, please contact me. Thanks.
  • Nice try but the lines (all) appear zigzag when zooming in.

Nice try but the lines (all) appear zigzag when zooming in (or without zooming in). Could you please try fixing this big flaw so I can start using my iPad Pro 12.9” (2018) for this application?

    Overall, lines don’t look good.

    With Kind Regards!!!

    Developer Response
