Best app for splitting the bill properly
My friends and I love using this app!!! It’s very user friendly and is helpful when the bill comes & everyone ordered different things. It’s beneficial to the people that just split an entree or didn’t drink multiple drinks! Makes paying the bill EASY!
Since it’s not always fair to split the checks at a restaurant evenly and no one wants to do math, I always use Splyt when going out with a large group. It’s simple and easy to use and allows me to get more points on my credit card by putting my card down. It connects to my venmo so that no one is yelling across the table “WHAT’S YOUE VENMO?” after multiple cocktails.Cynthiaaa :D

What it does well:
- Receipt scanning seems to be really easy and accurate
- Supports both cash app and venmo
Where it lacks
- needs a web interface with no login after sharing. Don’t make friends download the app and sign up. Too much friction that hurts UX. If it works well people will download and sign up later.
- buggy. One friend couldn’t sign up, error on verifying phone number. We had a receipt with no tip and no tax, and the app didn’t let us proceed. Worked around by adding 1¢ for each
- no support for Zelle, Apple Cash
- cannot split items. The app is literally called splyt!

Shameer - Thanks for the detailed feedback! - There is a Web interface for people joining a splyt where download/signup is not required(: Just create a splyt and invite people using the QR code generated. They can join as easily as scanning a QR menu. - Error verifying phone number & submitting $ tax & tip receipts - Thank you for reporting this, we’re working on improving it now and will comment back once its fixed! - “Cannot split items” - Tap on an item to claim it and tap on the same item as a friend to split the cost (incl tax &t tip) We need to do a better job at showing the functionality of the app. Thank you for pointing this out it helps us make your experience better!Split a check of 18 between friends at dinner!!
Wow… first off my friends and I went on a group trip of 18 to Tulum Mx. I was introduced to this app by a friend. We all went to dinner and sat at one very big table… then when it was time to pay the bill.
I opened up the Splyt Pay app and took a picture of the receipt and boom!! A qr code for everyone at the table to scan.
My friends were able to easily select which items were theirs and when they went to pay me - they had options of Venmo & cash app.
Instead of a 30min headache of splitting up the bill… we were done with the bill in less than 5min.
By far this is an app I recommend any friends who go out to eat a lot in groups.
