Just got my PurePlank today, and I’m really impressed with it. The app definitely needs some work. I just finished my first work out, and after thinking I was supposed to hit “start workout” and that the videos would play in order and guide me through the workout, I soon realized that this wasn’t the case… or so I thought? Now that I finished the workout (which was solid), I check on the app, and it says I only worked out for 1 minute. It wasn’t a long workout, but I definitely did more than one minute.
The way that each workout is set up (and the fact that the device comes with a timer), it is very confusing as to whether you’re supposed to follow along the videos, or if the videos are simply there as a demonstration of the move you’re supposed to do, since the entire workout is listed with the movement and time you’re supposed to be aiming for.
The videos guiding you through the workout COULD be great, and would be my preference, but the current set up doesn’t really allow for it (you’re supposed to do side planks, one for each side— do you back out of the sequence of videos and click on the same video twice? If you do this, it treats it as you’re starting a new workout.)
I don’t know if the end goal is to have classes with instructors walking you through or if it will stay with the videos already available, but that definitely has to be overhauled to make it fit with the work outs as described (it looks like the workout calls for a certain time, but that’s different from the length of the video, and the length of the video is what credits you for your workout), and have one easily lead into the next.
A few pretty simple changes would really make this app of the same quality of the equipment.
