Doesn’t do what it says

I got this a while ago on apps gone free as I was intrigued to play with the 3d avatars. When I open the app it doesn’t give me an option to create them only “Magic AI Profile Pics” All that does is put my picture on a white background. Once you have removed the background I can see no option to do anything but save it. The instructions are non-existent and because the app works on a credit system, all of which I have now used trying to work out how to use it, It’s now completely useless. It’s a bit of a shame when an app failed to deliver what it promises to. I hope you get things fixed soon.

Privacy violation

This app somehow manages to skip iOS photo privacy restrictions and gains access to all photos without user permission.

This is a huge red flag, either or Apple's part or the app developer's.

That is incorrect. It asks for permission, and everything is done on the device. You can either take a selfie, or use a photo form your photo library. Nothing needs to be uploaded.

Nope.

The built-in background removal effect in the Photos App is “head and shoulders@ above this.

Tried to create an avatar of myself

Used existing selfie. After spending awhile setting everything up, it urged me to create a “readyplayer.me” account (whatever that is). Since I did NOT want to sign up for anything, I hit back key, which lost my avatar. NOT wasting any more time. Regarding the auto-remove background, did you know that Apple Photos does this by default now? Don’t waste your 99 cents.

Updating this review. Readyplayerme was a 3rd party company that partners with developer son avatar creation. We’ve since removed it and have updates the technology with AI for better background removal. We will have hundreds of new background options added soon, making this different from Apple. Hoping people enjoy making low cost unlimited profile pics. Lots more to come as we’ve transitioned to new technology to allow us to do a lot more

Keep working on it. Not that much impressive at this point. Not good background eraser/remover.
