Incredible App, Commendable Business Model!
Lorenzo Greco's Masterdex app is spectacular!
The app allows all of the functions which casual and pro players alike might need in an app.
The interface is clean, the app runs well, and the level of click-through interplay is very user friendly. (i.e. Bulbasaur > Venusaur > Leech Seed > List of Pokemon that know Leech Seed, etc.)
What encouraged me to leave a review is the user championing business model of the app. You open the app to 7 days of no ads. However, at no point do you make an account, at no point do you put in your details, at no point are you on the hook!
Unlike other apps, Masterdex is not counting on you forgetting to cancel a free trial, or to accidentally give money, but instead is designed with good will to the user.
After the no ad period, you may if you choose pay a one time payment to remove ads, or otherwise use the app with ads.

This is the business model consumers are crying out for.

Fantastic, easy to use, no scummy practices
I got this app for a one off thing I was doing with my friends, but I actually found myself really enjoying the app and how user friendly it was, with a wide wealth of information. As I was enjoying the “make a team” feature, as I go to make a third theoretical team, it informed me that was a “pro only” item. I expect that this is going to be one of those scummy “$8-$10 a month subscription service” nonsense that so many apps seem so eager to incorporate nowadays, asking you to pay continuously for an app that is not at all worth it. Imagine my surprise when I learned the pro upgrade was just a flat purchase of $5. No subscription, no nonsense, just a flat, small fee. It was at that moment, filled with absolute respect for these developers for taking the high road and choosing to put out a quality product, without succumbing to the temptation of the scummy business practices that seem to act as the new meta for apps nowadays, that I immediately paid for the subscription, not just because I wanted the benefits it offered, but because I also wanted to support these developers that had so quickly earned my respect.

incredible app. needs a little fine tuning, like with how some of the artwork images of pokémon are distorted (basculin comes to mind) or don’t show up (gender difference artwork is missing), and it would be great if we could view and individually mark off alternate forms of pokémon (gender difference, seasonal difference like in the case of the deerling line, basculin again, etc.) but it’s otherwise incredible!Show lesslyranroc

Great app, missing things
This app is really good and has been approving over time. My only concern is that some moves, items and gender specific forms for Pokémon are missing. An example is Zacian and Zamazenta are missing their Behemoth Blade and Behemoth Bash. Another is that Sirfetch’d is missing his Leek that increases Critical Ratio. Some Pokemon like Aipom evolution line, Gyarados and Unfezant have different appearances based on their gender but the female variants are not available, at least not in Team Builder. If I see other Pokémon missing moves, items, or gender specific appearances I’ll list them later but I noticed this when building teams.Show lessHhfxxxghb

Easy to use, could we please get an option to change the default sprites to shiny? I’m using this to check what each shiny pokemon looks like as I run into them on scarlet/violet or is this option here and I’m missing it?Jeff Hardy Fan1

A few suggestions
I love the layout and presentation of this app. I’ve bought the premium and I always thought it’s worth it, but what prevented me from giving a five star would be the following:
- Minor info errors, including outdated movesets and egg groups (such as the Ralts line)
- When building teams, it’s not possible to choose the form of its appearances (such as Vivillon)
- We cannot see the ability and moveset description as we’re selecting it for a Pokémon in the team builder. Seeing them requires clicking out of the editing mode, which is time consuming
While I’m aware I’m somewhat nitpicking, as an avid Pokemon fan it has negatively impacted my experience with the app. If these are fixed, I’d love to continue supporting the app. Thank you!Show lessSashimiSoda
