Super!!!

I will leave the most positive feedback. Yes - it may not be the best design, but it is not needed. There is Google Drive and WebDAV! What else do you need from life?)

Downloading may lead to disappointment

I don’t post this review to be critical but rather to maybe help get this developer some more resources to improve this app since it is paid. Or maybe at least get a description update about the app’s nature. My friend, if the functionality is severely limited in your paid app, just be clear in the description or move it to testflight for people who paid.

I see now after I downloaded the developer mentioned in these reviews this is a side project and full functionality for Gdrive isn’t the priority. I wish I had known that before having to buy the app but apple buried the review and response.

Given the current state, I’m requesting a refund. Couldn’t get it to work with anSE3 using a Google Drive sync profile.

If it was free or freemium with trial, it would be no problem. I probably would have just found something else and not posted this.

What I experienced…
There’s some features that don’t seem to be bugged out, but just plain missing:
App doesn’t support tags even though floccus does seem to sync them. New links get added to the very bottom (if they do at all). No way to sort by add date. The custom sort doesn’t do anything. App’s search function is so unusable in a retro, early internet way. ex It is searching the middle of words and returning too many results. e.g. adding spaces before and after “ test “ as a search term will still give you contests, attest, testify, etc.

Things that might be limited to my profile and devices that may mean this is an extremely bad fit for my needs:
I have about 1700 links. Maybe that’s too many for this app. If so, there should be a warning about loss of functionality. The app did its initial download and then kept freezing. Restarting didn’t help. It kept registering a swipe up scroll action with a touch, which would trigger random links to open. The share from browser function just brought me back to the floccus app where it would freeze. The plus button would freeze and get stuck in an animated x position. Adding links manually in the app would only work sometimes.

Response from developer

Thank you for your honest feedback! Some functionality is still missing, I agree. It seems that it's not clear what the custom sort does. I will improve the search thanks to your feedback. The freezing is the most severe problem in your review, this is a known problem, happening, if you have too many bookmarks in the same folder. It should get better if you sort them into folders. I will try to improve this. Given that I have to pay 100$ every year to Apple just to be able to publish the app on the App Store, I still think it's fair to put a price tag on it. Refunds are always possible, of course, if the app doesn't suit your needs.

Simple but great

Fantastic app! Enables to have my bookmarks synced to a cloud service under my control. Syncs from desktop via browser plugin and also from mobile devices via this app. It's quite basic, but it works well. The latest update helps to save bookmarks directly from other apps via sharing. Thanks! It would be useful to be able to create a new folder when a link is shared from another app.

Okay but minor issues

Okay but minor issues

Has stopped syncing with Google Drive

Version 5.0 and later versions of floccus have stopped syncing with Google drive. I know Marcus works for Nextcloud now, but if Floccus is now Nextcloud only that would be disappointing. Right now Floccus still claims to work with Google but doesn’t in practice.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback! My efforts on floccus are separate from my job with Nextcloud and I will not stop to support other syncing methods like Google Drive if I can help it. I will investigate the issue you have brought up and fix it as soon as possible :)

Don't keep tabs open, just use Floccus!

This is a great - and quite simple - app to help you organize your web "memory". Store, categorize and search your bookmarks, with a sync integration for desktop browsers also. Which works amazing - including a warning if you're going to mess things up with a large-scale deletion of your bookmarks.

My preferred provider is Nextcloud Bookmarks, which also has tagging, but unfortunately this version doesn't expose or support the tags, perhaps because it works with Google Drive or WevDAV? That would make it a full 5-star rating from me.

Thank you so much for your feedback! Support for tags is definitely on the to-do list :)

Fits My Needs

Works flawlessly with Cpanel WebDAV and xbel format. Highly recommended!

Response from developer

Thank you for your review!

Good but can be better

The app works with webdav but doesn’t work for me with Nextcloud 25.02 server connection. Error E017. I’m not sure what the issue is on mobile as I have no log. Works fine on my desktop. App version 12 seems to have the E017 error vs version 13. Will have to await Nextcloud server 26 update on my end to confirm configuration using web access as test was internally deployed.

Broken

Not syncing across webdav.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review, the latest releases should fix this :)

Doesn’t even remotely work with WebDAV

How was this code released for iOS is a mystery. Doesn’t work with WebDAV at all. Doesn’t even generate a single line of log to help you troubleshoot.
Neither xbel or html book ark file format work. The problem seems to be far too fundamental than that, like possibly at connection establishment and whether to accept the server certificate or not. Too many privately owned NAS systems with WebDAV are serving self-signed certificates. And whoever wrote the code was too lazy to do any error checking, and showing any message to the user.

Too bad. Because the extension for desktop browsers works well.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback! Early versions of the iOS were still experimental in 2022. Nowadays it should be much more stable and a lot of issues have been fixed. If you like, I recommend giving it another try :)
