My opponent seems to know what’s in my hand.

I like this Eucher game App much better than the others I’ve tried. The level 6 play isn’t bad. But, I’ve accidentally uncovered what seems to be a, hopefully, unintended sharing of information to my opponent. I was the dealer and making trump passed to me. After accepting I had 3 trump, king and 10 of clubs and the ace of spades. I discarded the ace to make myself 2 suited. The player to my left lead a club and his partner trumped in to take the hand. Out of curiosity I replayed the hand and discarded the 10 of clubs instead. This time the left player lead a queen of diamonds instead of the club. How can what I discard affect the player to my left’s lead? Update: Did you ever want to change to a smarter partner? In a recent hand North made hearts Trump by accepting the right bower. This, it turns out, was the only heart in its hand on top of being 4 suited without a single ace. My grandfather would have never played with me again if I did something this stupid.

Update 11/23/2024:
After not using this app for quite a while I recently played this game again. It hasn’t gotten better. I’ve had multiple instances of my brain-dead partner trumping a hand I had already won. Again, grandpa would not have approved.

Response from developer

Glad to hear you are enjoying NeuralPlay Euchre. Thank you for your review. The AI uses an advanced Monte Carlo Simulation to determine the bids and plays. You may not see the same bid or play when you replay the hand since the simulation uses randomness. Roughly, it deals the unknown cards out and plays the hand to the end to get a result for each legal play. This is repeated many times and an average result for each play is calculated. The play with the best average result is chosen. Note: Levels 4+ use the random Monte Carlo Simulation for the plays. At this time, level 3 has human designed rules for the play, the play will be the same if you replay on level 3. I hope this explanation helps. Please contact us at support@neuralplay.com for additional details.

Good mechanics

The underlying mechanics of this euchre game are good. I haven’t seen any stupid plays by either my partner or opponents. The Trump selection is logical, and play sequence is believable and makes sense.

There are lots of rule customization options, so you can definitely configure this game to your preferred house rules.

The problem with the game is the graphic layout and flow. You have to pause and read the info in the top corners in order to understand what’s going on. Trump calls are not obvious, and generally leads to misinterpretation on a regular basis if you’re only glancing quickly.

Your partner hasn’t got a clue.

The north player makes trump on K,Q, 10 then leads the K! When I make Diamonds, he holds the Jack until the final trick- although he could have taken an earlier trick with it. I agree with the previous reviewer - brain of a marshmallow. On top of that, East-West frequently calls loan hands, and makes it!

Euchre is boring

Thank you for your review. We are working on improvements.

Too many ads

This would be a great app however it’s literally like after every hand of Euchre there is an ad that you have to first skip after maybe five or 10 seconds and then you have to skip it again and I’m finding the case with most of these game apps

Response from developer

We are working on improving the ad-based experience. We offer an in-app purchase to remove ads, please see Main Screen - Menu - Purchase Remove Ads if you are interested. Thank you for your review.

Ok…. But

Nice game to pass the time though, the more you play the more you see the AI make some courageous calls which just happen to be well supported by the opposing AI partners cards. 🧐

One sided

This is got to be the most one sided euchre game I’ve played. The opposing team is constantly calling Trump and the plays my computer partner makes doesn’t make any sense at all. Why would you Trump me when you don’t need to? The developers need to go back and make some updates to the program.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. The deals are not biased to any seat. By default the AI is quite aggressive at level 3. You can reduce the aggressiveness in Settings. Levels 1 and 2 also have a less aggressive AI. When you see a bad play, if possible, please send us a screenshot of Menu - Play Log when the hand is over to support@neuralplay.com. We are working on AI improvements.

Learn & Understand Euchre

Really like the rapid & many games of play that makes me a better euchre player. Very few interruptions for a free game.

Opponent calls trump

I like this game except every hand the East/West team calls trump. Your algorithm needs updated to allow more variety in who can call trump. After playing for a couple days, I deleted it because it wasn’t fun rarely getting to call trump.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. The AI is by default quite aggressive in calling trump. We use a Monte Carlo Simulation AI to determine when the AI call trump. We may have to reduce the default aggressiveness. Our default is the level 3 AI. You may play on level 1 or 2 for a less aggressive AI. You may also reduce the AI bidding aggressiveness in settings.
