Absolute Con don’t download

I bought this app to translate papers. I tried several papers and they all ceased at 90%. So I cancelled the 3 day trial within 6 hours and well before the 3 days. They then stole the money from my bank yesterday by making a false claim for money. I contacted my bank who contacted the merchant - they would not refund

Temperamental

Then it actually works this app is great but there always seems to be something wrong with either the website or app not working as they should. Examples include not showering the text while playing the audio, saying you have no files or are offline even when connected to WiFi, crashing and bringing up an error message when attempting to adjust the speech speed. It’s a shame because it it worked properly it would be great but the percentage of time where it does is really impactful. This also seems to be getting worse rather than better over time

Charged me after trial ended

I have repeatedly reached out and been ignored

Good service but needs some fixes

I am a grad student with ADHD and a good screen reader is a must for me. Listening has been an improvement in many ways compared to the free chrome extension I was using previously.

Things I like:
- it skips citations
- the text is highlighted where it is being read from making it easy to follow along
- the voices sound okay
- the mobile app means I can listen on the go

Things that need to be fixed:
- when I use the web version on my computer I get frequently kicked back to the log-in page (multiple times per day)
- note taking: I would like to be able to type notes and annotate the readings (highlight in different colours)
- the tagging system doesn’t work. When I make a tag I have no way of searching for it or finding it again. It is not how it has been advertised. I would like a folder system to be added or fix the tagging system. I would like to be able to organize my files as I have a lot of them.
- I have to turn dark mode back on every few days
- sometimes the part being read aloud doesn’t match up with the highlighted text
- the free trial is only 3 days (seriously???)

Overall this service is useful for me and I don’t regret trying it out. However the sheer number of bugs and things that don’t work is astounding for the price. I wouldn’t recommend getting this app until these bugs are fixed. I would expect this amount of bugs in an app in its beta stages.

Seriously, I want to like this app, so please fix these bugs asap.

The app states 3 day free trial but will still charge you regardless!
The app offered differing voices on premier, these do not work.
The app offer's multiple features h do not work in practice!
It may be useful but it doesn't do what it professes or charges you for. Move on!

I want to like this. I mostly do.

I use this to listen to my textbooks at work and to follow along with when I’m lazy or scattered.

I don’t like:
- Getting signed out when idle (or in the middle of renaming a pdf, which is was prompted me to write this review)
- The fact that there is no consistent, reliable way to organize your pdfs. You can tag them, but there’s no way to access those tags on desktop or edit/delete them in general. I want folders to put my things in. It’s obvious. For $120 I don’t get FOLDERS?
- I can’t see how long an audio file is once it’s uploaded. Again, this is an obvious flaw.
- Does not distinguish between two unrelated texts, so if your pdf is in two columns, it’ll plow right through

I do like:
- You can skip to specific sections
- You can add notes (this function is still extremely basic)
- You can jump forward/backward 10 seconds
- You can tap on the document to start from a specific word
- Doesn’t read in text citations or references (literally the only reason why I decided to subscribe)
- Adjustable reading paces

I want:
- FOLDERS
- A way to see how long the audio file is in total
- A better way of bookmarking specific passages
- Not to be randomly signed out
- LOWER COST $120 is robbery
- Apple Watch compatibility
- More intelligent AI

Good app but issues

They say you can change voice but its always the same man’s voice.

Glitches with downloads.

Incredible app, worthwhile investment… one small suggestion!

This app has changed my life in the past year. Worth the subscription & it only continues to improve, especially across languages (I listen in Spanish & English).
My unique complaint— for whatever reason the app doesn’t recognize words that start a sentence with th— and it spells it out as TH- whatever the ending is (-e, -is, -em). Would love someone to take a glance at that, seems like an important contribution, lol.
Keep up the good work! Love to knock out other tasks while I am prepping for class, conferences, or otherwise!

Great app

Sometimes it incorrectly pronounces a word, misses some letters on a word. I listened to a paper where it pronounced first as ir s t multiple times through the paper. Otherwise it is great. I cannot read a whole paper as I fall asleep, but I can listen and read along or take notes.

Not as advertised

I don’t even know where to start with the deception. First, the voices that read the PDFs are not the ones that you “choose from” in the beginning. They sounded like traditional robotic voices, not the advertised AI enhanced voices. Then, I had the hardest time getting the voice to change. When I figured out that I had to go to a desktop to see the voices in settings, the audio still didn’t change until I uploaded another PDF. Second, everyone talks about how great this app is because it’s different from others in how it recognizes what is relevant, but it doesn’t. It still reads some headers/footers and page numbers. Third, it skips over large chunks of text making listening irrelevant if I’m missing half of what I need to hear.

If you’d like the documents you’ve already uploaded to be read in the new voice, you’ll need to re-upload them.
