Description of Electric Sidecar

Your personal automative assistant. A powerful OBD scanner with integrated CarPlay, Shortcuts, and iCloud sync support. Want to beta test Sidecar and get two months free? Visit http://sidecar.clutch.engineering/beta/ to learn more. Sidecar is designed specifically for Apple platforms and with privacy and data security in mind. It's your car, your data, your journey. No connected services on your car? No problem: use an OBD scanner + iCloud sync to see your offline car data on your Apple Watch, iPad, and widgets. The app works best in combination with an OBD scanner and/or a Connected Account (Beta). Without either, you can still pull NHTSA recall notices for your vehicle and track trips. Get 30 seconds of OBD scanning for free. Extend this time by purchasing ScanPasses for either 24 hours or 7 days, or by purchasing a subscription. ## Privacy and security - All data is stored on your device and never sent to third party servers. If you use iCloud sync, your data will be stored on your personal, encrypted iCloud database accessible only to you. - Sign in with Connected Accounts (Beta) uses OAuth industry standards for authentication. ## OBD scanner - Use a connected OBD scanner to read real-time data from your vehicle. - Requires a separate purchase of an OBD scanner. - Manage your OBD scanners from CarPlay. - View live OBD parameters from CarPlay. - Over 70 standard OBD-II parameters supported for most vehicles since 1996. ## Trip logger - Explore your neighborhood and beyond with CarPlay support and a historical trip overlay. - Automatic trip logger using on-device intelligence; just enable it and drive. - Capture battery and/or fuel economy automatically with a connected account or OBD scanner. - Optimized for all-day use without being a drain on your phone's battery. ## Integrations - Widgets for iPhone and Apple Watch, including: vehicle state, tire pressure, range, fuel history, trip logs - Live activities while charging EVs - Lock your car with Siri (requires Connected Accounts (Beta)) ## Maintenance minder - NHTSA recalls pulled automatically for your vehicle. - Identify upcoming maintenance tasks on your vehicle with Connected Accounts (Beta). ## Community - Report and discuss issues occurring with your vehicle with other vehicle owners. - Contribute to the growing set of open source OBD vehicle parameters. ## Document storage - Organize your documents in a digital glovebox. - On-device document scanning helps you organize your documents. ## Sign in with Connected Accounts (Beta) - Supported accounts: Porsche, Toyota, Tesla. - Sign in with Connected Accounts (Beta) allow you to remotely access your vehicle's data and perform remote commands such as locking your car. - As a beta feature, availability may change over time. Reviews of Electric Sidecar

  • An ever expanding set of features

I initially downloaded to get Apple Watch icons showing state of charge for my Taycan.

The feature set is now expanding in directions I could never have foreseen and for more vehicles.

Brilliant stuff from a highly talented, experienced and committed developer.
  • Excellent work. Excellent information

I’ve been lucky enough to have been one of the beta testers for this app. What excellent work. The designer has really thought about what is needed, this is because, like all great apps, he required this information himself and noticed there was nothing in the market that gave it to him, so, he made it available himself.

If you own one of the electric cars that’s covered, you need to get this app. The widgets for the iPhone are great, allowing multiple bits of information and control right on your Home Screen. The watch integration is the same. Just the sheer amount of information about your car, trips taken and battery charging is incredible. In terms of stability, I’ve been using the app daily for at least 5 months without a single issue. Prior to this, there were teething problems, but the designer listened to feedback and fixed all of them in record time.

An excellent app with excellent support. It needs to be commended.
