2-1 helps to teach children how to subtract numbers from 1 to 10. The app doesn't use any words, so it can be used by children in any language. The app has been tested by teachers — you will find the references inside the app, under "references". The app has eight levels, from BEGINNER to INSANE. Each level has nine games, its own tasks and its own trophy — 72 games and eight trophies in all. The levels up to HARD already cover all 45 subtraction tasks from 1 to 10; CHAMPION and INSANE are an extra challenge on top. Our apps are based on a modification of the Leitner system: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flashcard This means that a task comes back until the child answers it correctly. The app also remembers every task the child has ever got wrong and brings it back later; in the two highest levels, part of every game is drawn from that list. This is how the answers stay in the child's memory, so real learning happens. If the child answers all the tasks of a game correctly, the game is finished, and the next game opens only when the score is high enough. Every game can earn up to three stars. In our apps the education is more important than fun. Our apps are more like doing homework than playing a game, so finishing them can be some work for a child.
