Lighting conditions are a big factor in scanning. I've made some improvements in a pending update, as well as newer devices, have better cameras in general. I'd like to hear more about your environment and get a better idea of what may be happening. I've done some extensive testing and only working 75% of the time isn't something I've seen.

It isn't a fake id detector, does not claim to be, it is a scanner to do date math using the barcode.

CONS: This doesnât validate anything but whatâs stored in the barcode which can be generated by any computer so itâs not fool proof.

To use you need an ID that you want to scan. It must have a standard 2D barcode on the back. Just ensure you have proper lighting in the room or click on the torch text to turn on the phone light. Hold the bar code in the camera view that the app displays. It will decode the date of birth and calculate if they are above 21.
