About

Turn a GPX file into a hiking map PDF you can print and take up the mountain. Maps use GSI (Geospatial Information Authority of Japan) maps and trails, for hiking in Japan. HOW IT WORKS 1. Tap "Browse" and choose a GPX file (or open a GPX from Files or another app with "Open in ヤマちず") 2. Choose paper and scale, or keep the defaults 3. Tap "Create" WHAT THE MAP INCLUDES • GSI map and trails (red dashed lines) with your GPX route on top • Paper: B5 / A4 / B4 / A3. Scale: 1:50,000 to 1:10,000 • Automatic page splitting when the route does not fit on one sheet, by day or along the route • Magnetic north lines for your compass, scale and magnetic declination • Elevation points every 100 m • Summits (▲ with elevation) and place names such as mountain huts • Itinerary table with times at each point • Elevation profile showing distance and altitude at a glance • Tent marks at overnight stops SET YOUR OWN PACE On the "Itinerary" tab, edit the start time, travel time of each section, rests and the course-time pace factor; the map's itinerary table follows. Save itineraries as .m3r files and exchange them as they are with the Windows/Mac version of ヤマちず and the Chrome/Edge extension. SAVE AND SHARE PDFs are saved in the app. Share them with AirDrop, print, send by mail, or export to the Files app. 10 LANGUAGES 日本語, English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, Italiano, Español and Português (Brasil). The screen and the texts in the PDF (itinerary table, profile and so on) follow your choice. JAPAN ONLY Maps cover Japan only. The map itself (GSI map and place names) is in Japanese, and place names stay in Japanese whatever language you choose. Handy for visitors hiking in Japan: just check the Japanese names against your route. GOOD TO KNOW • An internet connection is needed while the map is being made (GSI maps and elevations and OpenStreetMap place names are downloaded) • No account, and no data collected • Free, with every feature available. An optional tip (in-app purchase) is offered if you want to support development; it unlocks nothing ATTRIBUTION Maps, trails and elevations: GSI Tiles and elevation data of the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan. Place names: GSI data and © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). The credits are printed at the bottom of every map. ヤマちず is an unofficial app made by an individual, not affiliated with GSI or OpenStreetMap. The accuracy of the maps is not guaranteed. Before a hike, always check official maps, the latest trail information and the weather yourself.
