App needs work

Currently in tax school. The idea of the app is great. Having the regs and tax code at your finger tips. But the highlighting feature is so awful. Every time I attempt to highlight a portion of the code, it's a hit or miss and either it will allow me to highlight or it won't. The app needs to fix this feature

Great app

I'm a tax attorney and need to refer to the Code and regs constantly. This, and the companion Code app, allow me to access the Code and regs simply and easily. The apps are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for--a logical,user friendly, interface and portability of what otherwise would be eight clumsy volumes that would have to carried around. I find this app critical to my work and a major convenience. I don't know what I would do without it.

Super convenient

I use this app much more than the print volumes, which are cumbersome and get dusty. I have dual monitors at my computer, so this app is like a third monitor on my iPad. The print is easier to read in the app than on the thin pages.

Navigation

Once you learn how to navigate, the app is good. It needs a simpler way to get from place to place. Awfully handy to have on the iPad, though. Definitely worth the money.

Great improvements over the years

Easier to go directly to a particular section. Would like to see better navigation to subsections.

Excellent Resource

Bookmarks make this a time saving reference for Income tax regulations. Highlight feature is great also. E-mailing a section helps communicate regs. All in my iPad!

Great tax resource on the go!

Good mobile resource that is easy to use and allows bookmarks. The fifth star is absent for the vendor to make frequent updates to regs!

Beats the heck out of carrying around 6 books of regs

As a tax professional, there is no greater burden than the 25 pounds of paper textbooks that constitute the IRS Regulations. This app saves a ton of space, effort, and years of wear and tear on your back!

Only negative, that I can see, is that they do not contain the proposed regulations or the preambles thereto (hence only 4 stars). These would be greatly appreciated in future versions.

Offline regs nice ... Highlighting and notes missing

I still love my paper code and regs - well worn, highlighted and filled with handwritten margin notes and stickies. It's a bummer when I need to swap them out every year.

I was hoping the code and regs app would not only give me a way to have access when I'm in meetings or traveling, but also potentially do away with my hardcopy and retain all of those copious color highlights and margin notes. Even my kindle can do that!

Anyway, other than my high expectations, this is a complete copy of the full code and regs on your iPad. At our hourly rates ... it pays for itself the first time you use it.

Not bad, it will help me with my IRSQuestions.org website

I just purchased this with the intent of it helping me answer the questions of my IRSQuestions web visitors. The search is pretty good but when in a search while in landscape mode, if you then beck up the screen reverts back to portrait mode. This is pretty irritating as my iPad cover holds the iPad in landscape mode. When this is fixed I'll raise my rating by a star.

Overall this is a helpful app but it was pricey. If the price was in the $19.99 dollar range I would also give it another star making it 5 star.

Great so far

Just loaded the app this morning. I used it to make an argument that I had started last evening. I was able to find what I needed easily, bookmark it for future reference and email the results to my team. GREAT app.

Free Updates

Added the updates regulations today, for free. Nice interface on the app, much easier than carrying the regs around in paper format.

Sure beats carrying around 6 volumes of the regs. Just wish they would add note taking functionality as well as highlighting.

Excellent update

That last update really improved the search function. This app is definitely worth buying.

Definitely worth buying but accessibility/search needs work

Biggest issue is the first page you see when you open app. It shows a list of "volumes" which are numbered but completely without description. It appears that volumes 1 through 13 cover income taxes but you have to use guesswork to zero in on where you want to go. A search function is provided but does not work properly. Just try typing in random reg cites and you will see what I mean, it is completely hit or miss. But the search function is definitely better than nothing, and you can use it to get in the right area. So far, I haven't noticed any regs that are missing. App is definitely worth the money (if this is your line of work) to have this sort of instant access to regs in a meeting or on a plane where there is no internet connection. But accessability and search need a lot more work. The other app for Internal Revenue Code, by a different developer, is much more accessible.
