Version 2.2.1 works great
Reviews of earlier versions made me hesitant, but there are so few compass options for my gen1 iPad that I gave it a shot. It works well with no problems at all. I like its simplicity (I don't need bells and whistles) and the fact that you can use it as a sun compass or a magnetic compass. Too bad that iPod Touches do not have a magnetometer, or I'd load this app on my old Touch, too.
If you're like me and you want to maximize the utility of older devices rather than chucking them, this app is especially welcome. I thank the developer for maintaining compatibility with iOS 5.1.1.
