Pointer Remote for PowerPoint and Keynote User Reviews

Worth every penny, work great on my Leopard and Keynote

Everything I need is here in this app. It's should be $9.99 app. One drawback though, it should mention somewhere in the description on iTunes that "PointerServer" is required !!! I spent an hour figure out why my iPhone can't see my Macbook Pro, until I went to your website and see that I need to install PointerServer first.

Does exactly what it says

This is exactly what I was looking for! The pointer and slide advance/back tools work great and just as described in the application information . It would be even better for me if it showed the notes screen in PowerPoint 08 (but the info did say this update would come later -- please make it sooner rather than later!). The detailed info in the pdf file on how to set up the computer-to-computer network were easy to follow, and worked. All is as promised, and only a buck. Would've paid more. One minor point is that the interface screen lacks that certain Mac/Zen look.

Important notes

Please note: there is a required desktop app that must DLed from web, or you'll be like me and waste three hours figuring out why it's not working. They should really have a PopUp note when the program starts to remind users. But this is the best investment I've ever made in the apps store. WONDERFUL device. The pointer is great. I like it much more on the Point by Dragging mode. But PLEASE...Get an update for 08 SOON!!!

Well I've tried numerous ways to get this App running and can't.

I'm running PowerPoint 2004 for Mac, and downloaded pointer for my iPhone. Same network for phone and computer. And nothing. Not impressed at all.

Works a treat!

I have looked at other software for controlling presentations and decided to try this one out. I love the fact it will work with both powerpoint and keynote and has a very reasonable price compared to other apps I have seen on the App Store. A good start with this app I look forward to more in the future.

Works for PPT 08

The slide transition is very smooth. For the pointer I personally prefer "tilt" mode which uses accelerometer to move the pointer on your slide. The only issue is I couldn't get the notes of my slides to show up correctly on my iPhone. But still, it is satisfactory for PPT '08.

Impressive

This application is stunningly brilliant. I used it to run my mac powerpoint slides at a Computer Science conference. Using the free server software (mac end) I easily configured it to use our project logo as the pointer. Very easy to set up using the venue's wifi (I tried it with a peer to peer connection too). Everything worked brilliantly - no delays. Very easy to use.

Very useful

No longer needs to be worry about out of battery for your laser pointers. Recommended for all business/academic professionals. The only complaint I have is that there are only 2 choices of pointers. More default pointers with various shapes and colors will make the software much more attractive.

Great tool for trainer

This application push far away all the remote's for presentatic It's a great tool for trainers... at the same time my student do the exercices i could point on their screen and put the oval or pointer directly onto the critic knowledge.... Work great and do the job for all my colorfull presentation. Thank's to be imaginative...

A great idea!

I'm going to try it on my next presentation. (I do lots.) A feature request: Allow the oval or box to be cancelled with a tap. At the moment (as far as I can tell) the only way to get rid of it is to put another oval somewhere else, or move to next or previous slide. Also (as other reviewer remarked), a "reverse orientation" feature (as on remotes for airplanes etc.) would be handy. Not only to swap the buttons; but also for the accelerometer feature, so that "up becomes down" so to speak. That way the whole iPhone could be used backwards, putting the buttons at your finger tips (convenient for thumb) rather than in your palm (requiring some dexterity). Without the reverse feature, doing so means that tilting down makes the pointer go up and vv. Great app!
