Nice variation but poor user interface
I was very excited to find a Sudoku game that had all of these variations, as regular Sudoku has gotten a little boring for me. However, unlike other apps that are available, this one loses your pencil marks whenever you quit the game or switch to another app. If you are like me, and work on a puzzle in spurts whenever you have just a minute or two, you will be extremely frustrated when you get a call or return from another app and find all of your pencil marks gone. Also, selecting puzzles is not particularly intuitive. If the developer can update the application to save the pencil marks, however, I'd overlook the poor menu system and give it 5 stars.

the puzzle of the day no longer works. it just crashes. i've deleted it multiple times from my phone and itunes and then reinstalled it... it still doesnt work

Not worth paying for!
This is the only jigsaw sudoku out there, a version of sudoku that i absolutely love. This is a worthwhile app when free.
However I decided to purchase this app in the hopes that the auto pencil options would improve. Buyer beware! When auto pencil is on you cannot make your own pencil marks or erase possibilities. Erasing pencil marks is one of the crucial steps in advanced puzzles! The only thing you get when purchasing this app is the addition of sudoku x.
Please fix the auto pencil option! Make my purchase worthwhile!!! Thanks.

New update, same problem...
Got the 1.6 update on 01-04-2009, and still not fixed. That's why I dropped my rating to 1 star. The game STILL exits when I choose any game of the day. To bad, hope it gets fixed soon cause otherwise, it was a great app! Apparently the creators don't care. Hey I paid for this! Please GET IT TO WORK!

Frustrating!
I've now tried all the suggestions for getting this to work with increasingly less success. At first it worked for all 5 types of puzzles, but after installing the first update it would just dump me back to my home page after I selected a puzzle. So I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, which worked for a few weeks except that Kakuro was always empty and there were no pencil marks available for the rest. That was okay, if not great, but yesterday (Dec. 28, 2008) they ALL started either being empty puzzles or dumping me back to the home page again. I tried the iPhone update download suggestion, but that made no difference at all - it still is impossible to play any puzzles. Grrrrr! I need my daily fix of killer & puzzle sudoku! When it works, it's totally engrossing and keeps me up far too late, but the bugs are too irritating to recommend this to anyone.

Still NOT FIXED!
Downloaded another "update" yesterday. The application still QUITS when I go to play any of the games. STILL NOT FIXED! You would think the developers would test the game before offering updates or sale!
Great app....Great price
This is a great app - especially considering all the Sudoku versions and Kakuro. It beats out all the Sudokus (and there are many) in this regard. It is an excellent value at $.99.
To those who are complaining about problems in the current uopdate. The "What's new in this version" is very clear: delete the app from your iPhone and reinstall. The current version then works as expected.
I have two recommendations to make the app even better:
1. Provide an option to enter your own Sudoku.
2. Do something to make the target numbers clearer in Kakuro

Loved it!! Until now...
It worked great for several weeks. I played with it every day, found it a fun challenge to get on the leader board (even if it was only for a short while before being bumped off). It was great to have a sudoku puzzle handy everywhere I went! And one that allows the penciling of candidates. But for some reason, yesterday the "settings" button is gone on the main menu and NONE of the puzzles will load. It just shuts off the whole program and goes back to the iPod menu. It's disappointing, because without the ability to PLAY the puzzles, it's a useless app!! Any ideas, anyone? I've rebooted the iPod, too- with no change.

This is one of only two Sudoku apps that even offers KILLER, which is my favorite Sudoku variation. But I honestly find the app unplayable as it is now. It really does need to be updated to save your pencil marks. Every time the phone rings or I get a text message, all my hard work is gone! Doing a Killer Sudoku puzzle is great fun! Doing and re-doing and re-doing the same puzzle over and over again before being able to finally solve it is not fun. I am taking my phone on a cruise tomorrow and will try playing the game with the SIM card disabled (so no interruptions from calls/texts), and see if it's better... but so far, I've tried one puzzle, and managed to fill in just four spaces. Please, coders, update the game so it saves the pencil marks!!!
