  • Does lots of useful photo things for digital & film photography

I especially like the depth of field calculator.

The only con is that on the iPad it does not track the location, and requires manual entry of coordinates.
  • Works great, has many options & feature

I really like this app, even on my iPad. It does much more than just calculating DoF. It offers the most commonly needed features all in one app. I really like the subject size vs focal length calculator, it gives you a good idea what lens you will need depending on your subject and distance, and then you jump right to the DoF calculation to find the right f-stop.
The CC is set by the camera type, but it offers you a realistic use number based on that, which really makes sense. Calculating the DoF only on the camera is technically not correct. This app gives a real life use scenario to find out what the DoF really will be based on that.
Great app for a very reasonable price.

  • Great App!

A must buy for all serious photographers.
  • Excellent tool, but needs updating

Lots of goof stuff in here. I use the sun & moon piece *quite* often. Nitpicking: the time for the sun being highest in the sky always shows AM when it should be PM. Not nitpicking: the app seems fundamentally broken in iOS 4. GPS no longer works (changing location is grayed out) & the app will randomly crash.

If these things get ironed out, I'd give this app at least 1 more star.

  • Fantastic!

Used this app for the first time today with a 70's SLR... found the exposure and DOF calculators especially useful. Good stuff!
  • Suggestion

It would be good to have an additional function of keeping film used, shoots, location info
  • Crashy piece of garbage

I can't get this new version to run for more than about 30 seconds on a 3G before abruptly exiting with no error message or anything. No response from the company to bug reports. STAY AWAY! Good idea VERY POORLY executed and with no support.
  • A few rough edges

Generally cool, but the distance units change from feet to inches to yards as the distance set changes. Let me set feet and keep seeing feet - I don't want it to change on me.

I'm not seeing the Gray Wedge option anywhere. Also the color temp is almost unreadable over the busy background.

Finally it would be nice to be able to save multiple cameras and lenses. But generally pretty decent.

  • good set of tools but with some bugs

Sun/Moon: must set location by lattitude and longitude. It has a google map to show the location you selected bu it doesn't use the phones current location as the starting point - it starts a lat 0, longitude 0. No list of cities is available. Displays a complex but confusing graph of the sun/moon rise/set times. This calculation should be usable even if there is no network connection.

DOF: all settings are made with a wheel for each digit of the number. Simple but not the fastest way to change things.

Several unusual but useful tools include the slate (locatin, time, comment); color temperture table; and timer for long bulb exposures.

This app has the best set of tools of any similar app currently available.

  • Suggestion

Would be useful if the Dof calculator let you work back from a desired dof instead of trial and error to get the right distance.
