WeatherPro widget not working

WeatherPro Widget is very bad on ios18.Hopefully you can improve it.

A shadow of it’s former self

I expect to see WeatherPro slide down the weather app ratings… sadly. It used to be the best.

I think the company have lost interest. When there’s been a data feed issue giving erroneous info, it has taken them a long, long time to fix it.

There are two major things they’ve screwed up in the last year or so -

1. Radar - it used to be excellent but they’ve deleted the main display tab that had high resolution zoom-in close functionality and left us with a blocky broad brush affair. There are 20+ apps that do radar very well (try WeatherRadar). My wife was so unimpressed after seeing my ‘new’ version that she’s moved to laborious manual app updates so she can avoid updating and keep the old version of WeatherPro (before they removed the good radar display).

2. Premium subscription. Moving to per-device from per-user was just mean and money grabbing. If you have several devices you now have to pay for Premium multiple times!

I’m still using WeatherPro, reluctantly. The one aspect that is still very good is the ‘graphs’ display. It’s a really clear way to show forecast hours of sun, rainfall amount, wind speeds etc. over a 14 day period. I have yet to find another app that does this well. If I do I’ll be deleting WeatherPro for good.

What a Disappointment

I have been using Weather Pro since the app started. I have always liked the app for ease of use and have paid for premium. My only gripe has been that MeteoEarth is lazy and uses local airfield weather reports and makes no allowamce for where you live - they use the nearest weather reporting place. I live in a village between the North and South Downs in UK. The South Downs lie between the airfield used Brighton City and my home. The distance from the airfield to my home is 9 miles, but often the weather is very different from Weatherpro forecasts because the air of the hills. I pointed this out to MeteoEarth some years ago and they didn’t have the professional courtesy to repond.
I have continued to subscribe because of the usability of the app and ease of moving around in it. However this recent move to use the app store for subscription payments and not allowing the usual Apple IOS method of one payment for all your devices is most annoying and disappointing. I will not renew my subscription after the current tear rubs out. A shoddy way to treat loyal subscribers

Used to be the best.

Update 23 Oct 2024. It comes as no surprise that when sorted by Most Recent almost every Review is only 1 star, no stars is not an option. The new owners of this app seem to show no interest in it. Unless things improve I most definitely will not renew my subscription when the time comes.
Jun ‘24. I have been a very happy subscriber & user for years, but recent policy changes have changed my opinion. One subscription allowed Weather Pro and Rain Today on both my iPhone and my iPad. I paid the 1 year subscription from my phone recently but noticed my iPad did not reflect my continued account status. In response to my email questioning this anomaly I was told that Rain Today, and Weather Pro for iPad are now separate entities requiring separate subscriptions. A small increase in price would have been acceptable, but a 3 (or 4?) fold increase is not. Pure greed!

Quality declined recently

I used to rely on this app for everything weather related and had a paid pro subscription that I used interchangeably between my iPhone and iPad with just one subscription. Since the retirement of the MeteoGroup account facilities, my subscription is no longer recognised on other devices even when using the same Apple ID. The rainfall prediction radar is a lot less consistent and unreliable, and even on a device where I have purchased a subscription the pro features are sometimes not available and require refreshes and app restarts to make available. I’m happy to pay for premium features, but not when they’re unreliable and overly expensive compared to recent availability when used on multiple devices. I think I’ve spent my final pro subscription, and without those features the app is no more useful than many other weather apps.

The best and accurate

Its been very helpful for my landscape photography.

Gone downhill

Since they made us pay for the premium version, it’s actually worse. Reason is that the radar map appears blocky like a 1980s video game, unless you tap on the little world icon at the top and change region to UK. Then you get a much nicer rainfall radar map, but there’s a limit to how far you can zoom in so that most of the UK is shown at the closest level. The app doesn’t remember your preferred location, so you have to go through the whole palaver again. Bottom line is it’s worse than it was 10 years ago, when it was great, and now you have to pay for it. Recommendation is to stick with the free version, and use Apple weather app for the radar.

Widgets Not Working

App is very accurate but none of the widgets are working. It is just blank.

Every feature turns into subscription only

When I one time purchased the app many features like radar and cloud cover playback were included. I don’t think it is acceptable to lock features that were available when purchasing the app behind subscriptions after the fact.

Excellent weather app!

This is by far the best weather app! It is the most precise! I always compare it to others and this one is usually bang on !
